that you think make a guy or girl 'nice'?

Since many of the threads mention the Mr.Niceguy that nobody appears to be attracted to, yet women are always saying they want, and I'm assuming that there is a female equivalent, let's discuss it here, and see where the line can be drawn between the 'nice' that people want, and the 'nice' that they don't.

We were just discussing this today, in the chatroom... Razz

From my cynical (and personal, obviously) opinion, I think we're talking about two things...

If a guy would be the Westlife kind of nice (even if he'd kinda lack any sort of bad boy agressivity) both in looks and expressing himself, I don't think a woman would say no to having a relationship with him (obviously, even if he were too sweet and such). LOL

And no, we don't think guys like that are gay... Haven't you heard the old saying: All good men are either married or gay? LOL There's a reason for that saying...

As for the bad part of being nice... That's mostly being a puppy (the yes, whatever you say, kind).

But I've lately been thinking about this, and I do believe it's a question of looks more than a question of attitude.

As the famous man quote would put it: "I think you're nice" = You're not really my type. LOL

I don't know... Does that make any sense?

One last thought... In my opinion, for a long term relationship, we can get back to the old saying - Lady in society, naughty in the bedroom... That kinda applies to men too... A nice guy with a devilish side... The two opposites in everything... I don't think they're fighting against eachother, but more like they should co-exist.

In the end, simply nice is as boring and wrong as simply aggressive.

End of rant. LOL

I think the idea of a "Nice" person would be with regards to the persons morals umongst other things which I just cant think of the words for right now. Morals being- Nice in a way that the person is trustworthy. Nice in a way that you know the person isn't going to go out of their way to hurt you, I think nice would extemd to the foundations of the relationship. On the surface the person can be sarcastic, have a sense of humour and serious wit, but all in a fun sort of way if that makes sense. The word nice could be tied to just "someone who wont hurt you" be it emotionally or physically?

Who knows I could be talking out my ass. Makes sense to me.

I don't think there are any particular sets of qualities that make a person "nice." I think it all depends on the balance of good and bad traits.

Exactly, and we will all differ as to what traits we consider good or bad.

I definitely haven't been impressed with some guys who think they're 'nice' and wondering why girls don't like them, they're just not self aware enough to know. Same regarding women.

At the moment, a nice person to me, would be someone who would be straight about stuff. I like to know where i stand.

Is this a question about what we consider to be ‘nice’ on flirtbox? If so, the mood I’m in at the time can influence my opinion on what I consider to be ‘nice’. Sometimes I think the girls on here are 'nice' if I get along well, with them, have a bit of banter, share common interests, like their photos etc. Other times I think they're 'nice’ if they just answer my messages. Haha. In real life, there are soooo many more dimensions to what I consider to be nice.

I can understand that. I tried it and kept on getting funny looks everywhere I went. I was told it was the beard...

It's a general question and deliberately vague just to open up some discussion and the sharing of differing views about 'nice people'

On these threads there's been people saying that they've been told they're 'too nice' and were rejected because of it, and they can't understand why women go for the 'bad boys' ....... and what are 'bad boys' ?

I like 'nice men' and interpret it my own way to cover various personality traits, like kindness, sensitivity, caring, thoughtfulness etc........ BUT just because a guy has those qualities it doesn't mean that it's sufficient for a long term relationship..... after all does he also have passion, opinions, can he stand up for his beliefs does he have ambition... share similar or complimentary interests???? You know there just has to be qualities in addition to being 'nice' to get my heart racing.
