I used to do the silent treatment as a final way to break the last ties with a very persistent partner/girlfriend but always end up worrying about 'her' and if 'she's' OK and breaking the silence. I'm such a softie.

I've been lucky with the last 2 relationships and not had to do the silent treatment thing, as we're still friends. And I've gotten very good at listening too, apparently.

I've had the silent treatment done to me quite a few times, really pisses me off. I've also done it to peeps a couple of times, once when someone was just really irritating and i just couldnt be bothered to talk to em and a couple of times when someones done something thats really hurt me and it was either not talk to them or scream Very Happy

Its like a lot of things, some peeps over use it and it can be pretty damaging, other peeps use it occasionally and it can be quite a useful relationship tool - sometimes its better to shut up and let the other person do the talking.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has been getting the silent treatment. I was seeing a guy for a few weeks during the summer...one minute he's practically Mr.Clingy - calling and texting every other day, the next minute he goes all quiet and I don't hear from him. Which is rather rude and annoying to say the least.

I think unfortunately in life we are all gonna get the silent treatment in one form or another-just like our hearts will be broken and all the other stuff. But hey who ever said love was ever easy!??!

i personally think using the silent treatment is very childish and very annoying i would sooner date a squid than date somebody who will use this form of manipulation in a relationship.
