I'd love to have a Ranger fall for me and my 'son' - it's the kind of life I would love to have. But, I guess he doesn't exist, or does he, in South Africa?

I don't know you even remotely, so I can't let you be privy into my more personal information.

Power Rangers are in my sons age bracket - and I guess you can't understand my post for the value of what it is, and not the obscene value that you're giving it.

If he does exist, reservelover, is he liable to be looking here? I don't think so. It's not a job that requires computer access and he's more likely to be out lassoing a rhino, or something.
http://www.nature-reserve.co.za/
This site lists about 70 reserves and game parks etc in South Africa. They all look beautiful. He's going to work on one of these, right?
Now I'm not suggesting you go there, search for him, find him, give him a big kiss and tell him, 'You are my reserve ranger and I claim my prize of a lifetime of love.'
Cos a) It'd take you a bloody long time: these are big areas, Kruger National Park alone is only slightly smaller than Wales.
And b) It would be very dangerous, since these are the places famous for the wild animals, etc.
So what can be done?
He's out there in South Africa, tussling with a jaguar, and you're there in Somerset, tussling with skoundrelushu and gj458.
(Yeah, it's difficult to know which of you has the more dangerous job! Razz )
Well, you could send a letter to the manager or main office of all these reserves and game parks etc. It could include a photo, but would probably be safer without your real contact details (ie it could have a Box No and a special email address). And would include the address for your profile on here.
Would it work? Who knows! What do you have to lose?
Maybe all these guys all read The Reserve Ranger's Gazette?
(OK, I'm guessing what it's called! Laughing )
What about a classified listing in that?
Or maybe there's an online site where they log in each day to say how many lions they saw, or how many stupid clients they saved that day, or something.
There he is, after a long day out on the reserve, sitting having his cuppa - watching the golden-red sun go down over the distant mountains - and thinking of you and a ready-made family.
Find him! Make the world a happier place for 3 people!

If you're talking the topic as a whole, I wouldn't try. If you're talking about Handsels post, just enjoy that for what it is, yet another comedy masterpiece.

Credit where credit is due, Handsel put across a valid point at the same time.

However, there are nature reserves here in the UK as well. We even used to have a small one here on the BP site where I worked. We had a few of the more rare birds nesting there, even a Kestrel had two young and it was a pleasure to watch them on the CCTV camera sometimes.

I did initially have something to that effect in my post, but when I re-wrote it I managed to leave it out somehow. So apologies to Handsel for missing that out.
