No, it's not really for me. At the end of the day I'd want someone that I know I can see without having to fly or sail to see them. I used to talk to someone online from Boston, USA for over a year who seemed cool but then later she got all carried away and said that she wanted me and no one else and it wasn't that she wasn't my type, it was just that this wasn't what I wanted. She now lives somewhere in England and I think she's engaged. I was also surprised to see her in the Smiths special of NME this year talking about what that band meant to her.

I've always wondered if there's a link between location, music taste and bunny boiling

Done the long distance thing for 5 years, though not with a bunny boiler, she was the normal psycho kind of girl, the killer was when it ended, did she let me travel to see her then say she was ending it (not bitter here by the way, honest), phone, text or e-mail? You cant really travel a couple of hundred miles to say sorry its over.

Anyway bitterness bit here - she phoned while I was at work one afternoon to say it was over.

Scares you?
Its not the long distance relationship that should worry you, its the ones who hide in the garden or are raiding the rabbit hutch that are scary

Hasn't been long term though has it ?
Hope it works out for you, and it sounds like you are both happy which is the main thing. But I cant see how it can work long term, without it only really being sexual...In some ways I hope I'm wrong.

Ultimatly all relationships fail... (bitter and twisted Steven there for a minute, sorry)

If you put in the work to a long distance relationship then there is no reason why it shouldn't last as long as any other. The ending is worse than usual because it has to be done remotely, its not fair to drive 230 miles to be told 'sorry its all over', and 230 back again in an upset state (the timing can be picked carefully though).

If it becomes permanent relationship - marriage or living together, then by default it has to fail as a long distance relationship when one of you moves near the other one. Its then a normal relationsip.

Just a thought on the sex thing though. If thats all you want from a realtionship then there are plenty of locals who would do that without any strings attached. OK you might have to pay, but it would be cheaper and less hassle than the travel costs, the accomodation, meals, weekends away together, evenings out, phone calls, all the little things that make life a bit more fun.
