I don't really care what people think if I meet someone on the net and people want to call me geeky who cares. I think you make a better judgement on here than through a pair of beer googles in a smokey dark pub with music so loud that you have to shout all night.

Have to agree, I met my Ex through an online chat system about 5 years ago, but seeing as I'm a geek, and all my friends are pretty much just as bad, then I wouldn't object to being called geeky anyway

So I suppose the next question is, Whats wrong with being a Geek? Wink

i went out with someone i had met on the net and we also decided to stretch the truth about how we met, i think a few people know how we met and are open minded about it!.. i was out the other day and saw a friend who came up and questioned me, he was laughing and making a joke as he had found me on a dating site. i was like did you and didnt bother lying or making excuses, he was trying to make excuses about why he was on a dating site to find my account, i guess it depends how open minded you are and how long you been online. all this net stuff is just normal these days, i mean staying in online chatting in a cyber pub is the new going out Laughing haha

I've only ever met one girl off the net and we were together just over a year. Mind you, it took her 6 months of chatting to convince me that she genuinely fancied me but then again i never was one to rush into things. Laughing

She lived 50 miles away and although i told friends/family how we met, we were made to feel awkward. It was as if we were some sort of weirdos because we'd used the internet. I regularly had comments like "are you THAT desperate?" so i think internet dating is still very taboo, particularly in the older generations.
