My last proper Girlfreind I met online, but we both agreed at the time not to tell anybody the truth how we met, if anybody asked it was " we met in the pub". Embarassed

I don't know if people belived us or not, as she lives in Southport & I in Wigan lol.

Even to this day when people ask how did you really meet her, I still don't tell them even thou she my ex now, as I don't want people to consider me somekind of sad geek for meeting somebody online.

So if you folks meet somebody online, do you tell other people when they ask the truth or a porky. Wink

Meeting online is only like meeting any other way, its another way to socialise now. It can even anhance a person with low confidence, it gives people with a low self of steam to feel good about themselves. Geeky extremely not, but others will disagree.

That's true, I'd just be honest about it. I see meeting people from online as an alternative to being in some club and being snubbed.

I've met 5 people online and 2 of them were with the last month, and i try not to tell a soul. I once told my best friend that i had a 2 year relationship with someone online and she was gobsmaked. Since then i dont like telling her if i meet anyone online, even the last one (she thinks we met in town on day). I hate lying to her but i just cant tell her.

Unforunately, most people do still feel that online dating is "geeky".

I just see it as another way of meeting people, although if I did meet someone online (the pessimist in me says I won't find anyone anytime soon) then Id probably tell a lie.

I would have no problems telling my friends if i've met somebody online. There's no point in lying.

Id prefer to save face though.

I see nothing wrong with online dating myself but most people I know feel differently.

Yeah, i understand that.

If your friends are real friends, they wouldn't care.

Doesn't make them any less my friends if they mock me for finding someone online, but the stick Id get would be unpleasant all the same

The more people "admit" to meeting online, the more normal it will become! Any hey. it's fun to watch the reaction on folks' faces as you tell em too! Razz Come clean, tell it like it is.
