If I get left alone (or go to the pub alone) I always make sure I have either a newspaper or my phone to play with.
Once you've been sitting there for hours tho then usually the staff start to watch you! Perhaps I just drink to much Surprised

I never have any problem with going out on my own in fact girls smile and I feel at ease to chat with them, I go solo out five nights weekly dancing at my clubs they all know me some time I take female dancing partners, I think if you feel a chip on your shoulder people will sense it if you care free they will see that and relate to you as well, I love going to cinema and theatres on my own, many times I had trouble with lovers as they feel jealous me being flirting about, so my rule never flirt in front of my lover only if I want them to feel jealous or smash something on my head lol, only I flirt if I go out with companion or friend. Smile

I must admit i find it really hard to be in a pub on my own..its fine walking in, but after half an hour things start to feel uncomfortable..
For a start, most pubs now do not allow smoking at the bar..which means then you have to go and sit down, just to make you stand out even more..and also found that most other people in there are with friends, so approaching anyone to strike up a convo with, means entering into their circle..not an easy thing to do..
So left with sitting on own or if really desperate, trying to talk with the Non-smoking village idiot whos propping up the bar..
So kinda given up going into pubs..lol

Well i feel more comfortable now knowing that it is just not me who shares these views !! Rolling Eyes

I have no problem finding people to talk to in pubs.

I was waiting for my sister and friends on monday afternoon, and a group of people invited me to sit and talk to them. I thought that was pretty nice.

i agree with you there..i am definately a person who waits to be approached first, but funny enough, only in pubs/clubs. If was out during the day, i would feel so much more at ease and could approach someone much easier..
Basically, when in the situation where its expected of people to 'pull' each other, then i am very reserved..but that may come from not going out in eves much i suppose..i am unsure as its all new..
blimey..i am doing self therapy on myself now..lol

Think this has come about from not ever going out and doing the dating thing when young, then entering a long term relationship (13yrs)...

Why do you care what other people think when you walk into a bar? You are either going for a quiet beer. Waiting for a mate or on the prowl. What's the problem.
Ultimately, you are always on your own.
