I think women tend to find fit people more attractive and "right" because as humans we look for someone who is healthy and can provide for children.

I personlly don't mind someone who is fat but obese isn't attractive. If someone isn't looking after their health it's just not attractive

And thats fine, but what is the difference between fat and obese?

Clinically i am obese, but i think that word is awful and if said to you over text or the phone (and you hadnt seen any pictures) that i was obese, would you imagine my to be the size i am or bigger?

Individuals have different perspectives on fat and obese.

Trouble is obese is seen to be a little over weight now.. like 11stone(for women) would be seen as clinically obese and i personally think this worlds going mad.

When you do think about obese.. automatically you think about a size 38 person so i do think the word obese is used in so many stupid contexts.

I'm "clinically obese" which sounds like a total medical problem and it's not ! Why do we have to put names to things these days?

like ADHD? hyperactivity.. they need tablets and all sorts? for a problem that isn't anything except an attitude problem at times and being abit silly..

.. and we're being called moribly obese just because we're fat and we supposedly eat crisps allday!

I spent years losing weight, yo-yo dieting.. and if i'm honest when i was 3 stone lighter and could fit into my size 12 jeans.... i wasn't happier ! I got into the whole insecurity crap, oh do i look good blah blah

i think the obsession with lean "fit" body is defiantly the fault of the media.

when i was 7 or 8 i watch ricki lake on tv and i thought she was gorgeous and i wished i looked like her

when i was about 15 i saw one of the old programs again and i didn't see anything nice about the way she looked.

i was like that with everybody i saw, i would just see the negatives and obviously i wasn't born that way

its over four years later and i still have to actively stop myself automatically doing the same thing when i see people. i'm still working on not doing it to myself

If I had to label myself..I'd be fat.

But...such is the freedom of life that I don't have to have a label! Not just because society or the media says I do!

And that's the only label I will put on myself. I am me.

Chins up, guys and gals...At the end of the day, looks fade, boobs sag, guts expand, hair thins, skin wrinkles, youth abandons us all and what are you left with? The only thing that will ever get you where you want to be... personality and conversation!

I know mine will...he'll be gorgeous to me no matter what, but he won't always look the same...

Just for once, I've read the whole thread. This is partly because when Bliss has her serious head on she makes some very interesting posts.

And because I'm in a shitty mood (and we all get to post those kind of posts once in a while), I'm going to say that what really turns me off in a person on dating sites is not whether they are fat, thin, tall short, hairy, bald... blah-bloody-blah.. but the fact that they're not entirely literate!!! I'd rather get to a know a fatty that can write/spell bloody good English than a 'fit' person who I'll never get to know 'cos I can't read what's been written

And 'yes' I do feel feckin' better for it!

in a sprint, fit will generally beat fat

We all live in the real world, yes there are some very confident 'fat' people out there, but at the end of the day, if the said 'fat' person was put in a line up with, so called 'fit' people which one would be chosen ........ hmmmmmm i wonder. Just part of life that people will always go for the one who looks the best, and i know there is someone out there for everyone, but it's just 'fat' people have less choice.

I'm far too lazy to read the whole thread so this question may have been asked before (even by me- I have the memory of a flea) What is meant by fit?

As I understand it there is fit as in "good looking" and there is fit as in "physically accomplished"

Are we talking about both or one or the other?
