I don't want to get overly-serious but we seem to have two definitions of 'beautiful' here. Can 'big' people be beautiful? Of course they can, it's about who you are and what you do. Can 'big' people be physically beautiful? Well, yes - curves can be very beautiful.

If 'big' means 'very overweight', though, then no, that's not physically beautiful. But why get hung up about it? Too many of us waste time worrying about being something we're not. They can either do something about it or make the most of who they are, it doesn't mean they're any less of a person. Anyway, from what I can see, there's plenty of miserable thin people about. Happiness doesn't tend to lie in trying to conform to other people's ideals.

I think that if you're beautiful, you're beautiful. size doesn't come into it. Of course, some people can and do look better with a little less or more meat on them. Sophie dahl, for instance, was stunning when she was bigger and is still stunning now. Dawn French is definately big and beautiful and it wouldn't suit her to be thin. I personally think that your personality has alot to do with your attractiveness, whether you're a size 8 or 18.

i kinda agree with a few people here, big can be beautiful if they are in proportion ... kind of think diana dors etc the proper hour glass figure not how they call someone who is a size 8 curvy and hourglass now ... these women had big boobs big bums curvy hips and little pot bellies and my god they were beautiful

but on the other hand someone can have a beautiful face but be too big for their frame and they struggle, they cant walk far, get out of breath etc and then there is the strain on the heart ... i mean i am gonna be blunt what is beautiful about someone who is sweaty wheezing/out of breath and bright red from walking less than a hundred metres up the road

however you need to be beautiful on the inside too as you can be the most aesthetically pleasing person in the world but if you are ugly on the inside then you are ugly all over, this applies to all people fat or thin

i am big and i dont like how i look but i have only myself to blame ... i think i will be more attractive when i am smaller so i go to slimming world so ir eckon yes big can be beautiful but its more to what we are conditioned to think of as big in todays society, to me a size 14 isnt big, to others it is practically obese ... it also depends on culture too ... in some parts of the world being big is a sign of attractivness and prosperity and the big ladies have the most husbands

can anyone see what i am getting at as i am sure i had a point but may have lost myself

Tha's funny. I won't hijack this post, will post what I think of the subject too, but I have to say that it reminded me of those guys who keep on asking why don't women look at personality and character (hope they're not synonyms) insteada searching for good looks. I have an answer for some of them. It's because you don't have any personality dude.

My brain goes blank when a dude who doesn't even speak right tells a woman to look at his personality. Personality is made of lots of things. And you can never be sure that the one you're after will think you have a good character/personality/whatever. You may think you do, but they might not.

As for the looks... That's a really hard subject.

I mean seriously. I'm not a thin girl and I'll probably never be one.

But what one's size is and one's face looks like and so on are important, you cannot just say pass to looks. Because after all you're not touching eachother with your souls or your personalities.

I know that there comes a time when you don't have the looks anymore, and I also know that there comes a time when you're so in love with someone that you couldn't care less of what they look like.

But the later starts when it's not looks that brought you together in the first place. You can't just look at someone in a pub and go... OoOoo, I don't dig the looks, but maybe a good personality...

Anyway, I'm losing myself in words again, but I had to respond.

Why do some people go for big bodies and some go for small? Why don't they all go for big bodies, or all for small bodies? Are those questions seriously asked?

If you ask me... People go for muscular bodies and cute faces because they appeal to the eye. Why they appeal to the eye? I have no idea. Might be conscious or subconscious, or whatever.

That doesn't mean that if people consider a person to be not so cute, or not so appropriate, the person should care.

After all we're coming back to the first thing asking why do you have to be part of a couple?

As for the society and people prefering one sort of body in spite of another, it cannot be changed. That's just the way it goes. What you can do are the following:

Find a society where your body is considered beautiful as it is so you have more chances of mating (because, let's admit it, that's what we're all after, even if it's called love these days lol).

Change your body and obey this society's laws (jus like a game, you win if you know and apply the rules, or if you break the rules in a smart way).

Care not if you're in a couple or not and just seek/wait for that one (1,2,40,100) individual(s) who'll care for you just as you are.

One of the most important things though is for you to care for yourself just as you are first.

As a friend of mine would put it "do I make myself clear?" LOL

hi i'm not sure where you guys are from, but where i come from (England) I'm not sure if it's just my area, but it is very common to see skinny women with large men, so it does happen. There is someone out there for everyone, whether they are fat/thin, small/tall, we will find them wejust have to look and be patient

obese women are a turn off for me. curves and what not is ok, but if you have rolls of fat, then i actually worry about you because the likelyhood of you having a heart attack is dramatically increased if you are overweight.

Of course people can't help being over weight due to having a slow metabolism, but he majority of obese people just don't do enough exercise, eat unhealthy food or drink too much. Also people become "fat" when they give up smoking, they gave up with out adjusting their diet and did not think about what they should be eating instead.. so they more often then not just pig out and pile on the pounds.

Still, there are many reasons for being obese..like there are for being frail and skeleton like size 6. I, myself.... prefer women who are not model like or women who are not morbidly obese.. i like a normal figure on a woman.
