I remember watching a tv programme on "real looking dolls" or whatever you call them and it actually scared me how many supposedly "sane" adult women got these and took them out in prams to the shops etc and spent fortunes on clothes for them. Why???? Rolling Eyes

Probably the same reason why people treat their pets like children...

As odd it seems but as long as no harm is done...

They were originally used in therapy to help parents whose baby had died, then the market opened up to other people wanting 'something different'.
I have to say I find them rather creepy even though they are very beautifully made.
In the 80's not many parents took photos of new born babies and became a thing that when a baby died the parents were encouraged to dress it up and take photos.
I saw this on both sides, I was a volunteer worker at the local SCBU and one of my jobs was to help the parents dress the baby and take the photos (being a photographer at the time) and as I also worked in a photo processing plant I printed a lot of these kinds of photos.
(I didnt take the photos and print the same ones, in case anyone thinks I made money out of these tragedies!)
Nowadays, its the norm for people to snap away in the delivery room and onwards, so I dont suppose they do that much now.
But yes, they are wonderful creations, very pretty and impressive.
I thought the first 3 pics were of real sleeping babies, the last one with the orange lipstick and weird fingernails and too-smooth skin dropped the penny. Very Happy

ditto. And knowing now that they're not real, the realism is quite creepy.

*shudder* re the dolls.. I saw that programme too..

To go back to topic.. Im of child bearing age (just), but my son is now nearly 20, and I don't want anymore children in a new relationship. To be honest, I'd rather not date someone with very young children either.. been there, done that. I'm ready for some me/us time now, thanks very much. (oooooh a hotel with no kids.. bliss)

I don't have a clue what this thread is about and I am deeply disturbed by new born babies when they have loads of hair.
