Just wondering if anyone has ever gone away on holiday over the xmas period. I've been thinking about it over the past few days as we never got away on holiday this year because my mum and dad are ill. It would also be nice to be somewhere hot and away from all the hussle and bustle. Also where is nice and warm that time of year?

I've only been away from my family over Christmas once when I did my ski season in Chamonix. Not exactly going away for warmer climates though as it was twice as cold as here but at least we could ski
Did have an excellent time that Christmas though but ended up drinking for 14 hours straight on Christmas day, but at least it was a white Christmas

One of the Canary Islands is your best bet Claudia. When i was young, free and single went to Tenerife a couple of times at Christmas, the weather was always great, not dead hot but just right. I hate christmas at home myself, was thinking about taking the kids to Disneyland this year, i love it there ................ xx

Thanks anne-marie will have a look at the canary islands then. Is it much more expensive or cheaper at xmas ?

Claudia, its much more expensive at Christmas, especially if your looking at staying christmas day or new year days, not sure if you would get much of a reduction if you waited for a late deal ?????????? i'm jealous though i want to go now ................. x

Claudia, my great uncle has a villa in lanzarote and he wont spend christmas anywhere else, says its the best place he has spent christmas and is good place to be any time of the year. Maybe look at that, i havent been but seen photos of his place and its away from crowded places and is in the countryside but near the coast and he says more holiday places are appearing in places like where his villa is
hope it helps you and you all manage to get away and feel better for it

Thanks Han, Its was actually Lanzarote I was looking at, I've never been either but my next door neighbours are just back and loved it, will have another look later on see if, like you say I can get it any cheaper doing it all seperately. Do you know where in Lanzarote your uncles villa is? sounds lovely
