I fancy Tenerife, but I hate to just book somewhere unless someone has been and recommended it .... so guys anyone been to Tenerife and if so where? and what was the Hotel/resort like?

Hi Claudia, i wouldn't go to Tenerife as a family, is a bit on the dirty side, great for a girlie holiday though. I go to Alcudia in Majorca every year, going in 5 weeks again ............ its great for families and quite cheap to get to .................... x

Uhm.. Nope, not really?
Well here's my lil contribution to the topic, but I don't have any hotel names...
I've been to Turkey a few years ago and found it to be lovely. Everyone's very friendly, even too friendly (they keep on inviting you to go into all sorts of markets and are quite insistent)... It really depends on what culture you wanna meet there too, but I found it to be a nice spot to chill at... Been to Antalya. There are lots of cheap resorts, search up.
Got two friends, one has been to Egypt this summer and paid bout 250 Pounds for a 10 day stay at a wonderful resort with lots of pools and all you can eat (breakfast I think) included in the price and she had a lovely time there. Another friend of mine went to Malta for about a week and paid 250 pounds too and she loved it there...
As for me, I've also been on the Cote D'or a few years ago, but I wouldn't recommend that, only good thing about it was the sands...
It really depends on what you want for yer holiday, including prices and culture... As for me, yet again, I'm not a beach person so I don't know much about exotic things.
I'd rather go for a trip in a fancy city. Don't think this helped, but since you were insisting too many people are readin and not posting, I felt guilty.

Italy ... something for everyone. If you are bring family (kids) they are very family friendly there. Beaches, snow, good food, good wine, culture, sights, shows, concerts, festivals, everything ...... at ANY time of year (including the snow)
Very easy to get to (any part of it) and definitely worth a visit. I was there on a family holiday this year and it was great. Don't go to Pinocchio Park is Tuscany, my niece wouldn't leave

Looks like its going to be Lanzarote, and think we're going to go with the villa option as opposed to resort. Its Costa teguise and only 5 mins walking distance from beaches shop resturants etc.
Any one else been here or chose the villa option instead of resort and how did you find it ???

Hi - I've been to Lanzarote 3 times, and stayed in Costa Teguise once. Having also been to Tenerife, I think you've made a good choice! Lanzarote is much cleaner, more family-orientated and generally felt much safer. It's not a wild destination (although it's a few years since I've been so it may have changed!) but definitely a good choice for a relaxing holiday. It's also small enough that you can explore it quite easily with a hire car, and you can hop on to some of the other Canary Islands quite easily. Fuerteventura is nice for a day trip and a pleasant boat ride, but the one I really liked is La Graciosa as it's almost uninhabited, there are practically no vehicles and just miles and miles of sand. You can also do windsurfing at Teguise, regular surfing further North, and scuba diving in Puerta del Carmen. There's tons to keep you busy if you're looking for more than a week (or two) on the beach. I'm not much of a sunbather but as far as I recall the beach at Teguise isn't huge. However if you've got your own villa (and pool?) that might not be an issue! Hope you have a fantastic time!
