I've not been "on holiday" for nearly 14 years.
Every time I get the chance to 'get away' I end up visiting family/friends and 'doing for someone'.....
Money is a big issue - so can anyone pleae suggest somewhere in this big wide world - I am open to UK possibilities but pleeeeeeez not Cornwall, I love Cornwall but it's my second ruddy home lately - It would have to be just a few days or a week max, and about £500 would be my limit for the travelling/hotel.
Bearing in mind I'm a single woman of 41 and not really into drinking/clubbing/extreme sports........??
All ideas from the sublime to the ridiculous seriously welcomed!!!

Nope, doesn't have to be in the uk.
But I've let my passport run out, but then again I wont be going til the summer the way things are at the mo....just that as I have very limited funds it probably will have to be a caravan for the weekend down the road from me!!

what about a long weekend caravan holiday in Scotland, if you book it july/Aug the weather should be nice enough, and loads to do. Maybe Wemyss bay or Craig Tara, on the west coast, or Hunters quay in Dunoon Argyll,. .........If you've never been to Scotland you'll love it
Eh Cazz

I can only recommend to come to Munich for a weekend....the XMas markets are over and it is not summer yet, but still worth a weekend or a week.

Mmmm, Germany hey? Only ever seen the inside of Frankfurt airport on a stopover....and I will check out those place names Cheekymunkey suggests, only been to loch lomond for new year when I was a kid.
Thanks for the food for thought! I really fancy going someplace I've never even heard of before, let alone already been to!

lots of places not very far in europe, i am off to ostende in 11 days time for a long weekend. There is France, costs less than £50 return on the ferry (driving), also Netherlands has some really nice places to go to and dont cost much to get there. i could recommend a caravan/chalet site in netherlands not far from Amsterdam in Wassenaar http://www.duinrell.nl/?lng=en
although it has a theme park on site its still nice and friendly, its also close to Amsterdam, on the train.
i know quite a few campsites in France, as i worked for a camping in Europe holiday company for about 8 years and is one campsite i really liked outside Paris was called camping international, its in a really nice town called Maisons-Laffitte and a short train ride from Paris centre, its along the river bank and very well kept.

thing with campsites is in school summer holidays you can pay treble the cost as they hike their prices so high.

Cheers for that. I had forgotten it would be busy/expensive in school vacation time!
Anyone ever been on those CenterParcs/Butlins weekends? Yay or Nay? They sound cheezy, but quite like the idea of having 'mindless fun' already thought out for me!

OOoh Well done Myriad! You;ve hit just the right spot, methinks! I've always since forever wanted a trip on a boat in norfolk - and my great-grandfather had a bookshop in Norwich so its always been somewhere I'd like to visit, and best of all I'd forgotten about the Lavender!!!
Yup, def Norfolk, will check it out for the spring thanks myriad!!
(and thanks for looking at my profile and having a think, that's really very sweet of you).
