Interesting?
in what way exactly is the arrest of a pedophile interesting beyond the recognition the police are doing their job?

Sorry, you've misunderstood my intention. I just meant as any topic on these forums, yes i've found it interesting to read everyone else's thoughts on the matter.
The subject, specifically, should probably not have been raised in the first place - for the very reasons you imply above - but it was, so why not discuss how we all feel about the subject?
If I was interested in it from a gossippy side, I would have possibly asked who?where?when? and want to know further all the juicy details from ashbelove's window.
But I did not, I asked him to consider the facts before jumping to conclusions.
*That* is what we've been discussing, the merits (or not) of judging a person without due thought.
And I could take it further there and say that you are also implying that you too have already condemned the man as guilty, judging from the quote above....

You know even in real life its sometimes true people can just missread each other, so how exactly are we here online as just text supposed to be any better?
My experience elsewhere is we're not. Misunderstandings and jumping to conclusions abound, more here than in real life if anything.
How do we feel?
Sick to think of such things walking the earth, upright, looking and sounding like human beings. The damage such monsters do is terrible and can extend way beyond the direct victim, even across generations.
Do I think he did it? I have no idea either way, and expect in a trail the case for his guilt to be thoroughly tested. It would be appaling to think an innocent man goes to jail while the guilty walk free, that is not justice.
His arrest so we are informed is for pedophilia so that is likely the charge to be brought, though I confess to not knowing the exact legal terms here.
If he is innocent and freed what then? The damage to his life and standing will be immense, he may never be free of the shadow of assumed guilt.
And does this little debate do any good either way?
If names are mentioned, pictures put up, all without a trial, all with the assumption of guilt. How many might come here to look at them, and think him guilty regardless of facts or their testing. How many from Bournemouth might come here, look at such and think to take matters into their own hands?
I mean if this was a hypothetical it would'nt be so bad to debate it, but this is real so we are told. Not listening to local radio or news much today I could'nt say if it is true or not.

My 2nd ex husband was threatened by his ex's new fellah that if he (my ex) tried to see his own daughter again, they (the ex'x ex and partner) would report a trumped up charge of child abuse to the social services. He hasn't seen his daughter since.
I used to have a friend who was the youngest of 5 daughters. The middle one whilst in her teens was really pissed off with her dad about something so reported him for sexual abuse. She did later admit she'd lied. It ruined him.
I know someone that did 3 years in jail and is on SOR because his stepdaughter was pissed off at not having her mum to herself anymoreand was extremely jealous when they had a child together.
There are a number of reasons why a man might have the police at his door 7 or 8 times in 4 years. I used to live above a very strange couple that used to have 3 or 4 visits A WEEK!! Turns out they had mental issues, were a danger to themselves, each other and others but due mental health laws were put out into the community 'for their own self-esteem' or some such rubbish. My bf lived in a flat next to a bloke who was a bit 'wacko'. The guy had regular visits at all hours from police. He was a drug user/pusher.
The fact that your neighbour Ashbelove was not put away in those 4 years indicates it was something other than something as serious as paedophilia.

Two summers ago, my (then) 18 yrs old son was staying with me here in hampshire. He lived with his dad in a small cornish village then.
One day, the police came knocking on his dad's door, they had come to take Steve to the police station for questioning - someone had identified him by name that they had witnessed him put his hand into an open car window and steal a mobile phone.....when his dad explained he was in hampshire with me, the copper said he wasnt in the least bit surprised cuz he knew Steve himself to be a very honest lad (known him all his life).
Well, this copper had a big booming voice on the doorstep, so the neighbors hear everything - yes?
A few days later, my ex is in the local shop buying a paper when the shopkeeper goes "I hear your lad got arrested for burglary - who's house did he rob?"
What I am saying is, mud sticks....the bush telegraph is a very dodgy thing.
Oh and although the guy in the original post had his door kicked in several times, my ex is friends with a local copper, and he gets LOTS of visits and some neighbors think he's a 'problem'.
When we first moved there, my ex had to let the police know he has guns in the house, so within the first few weeks we had the coppers round many, many times. Not kicking the door in of course, but sometimes very late at night (on account one of them was a mate, and he'd call in and stay awhile).....yeah, from day one people thought we were "No good" and had a lot of nasty whispering going on.
And yes redelicious, sadly you are right. My eldest boy has mental health problems (but he's NEVER a problem to anyone else) and can look bizarre when he's not well walking around Asda 6'6" tall, huge ginger bushy unkempt beard, dirty clothes, talking to himself......yeah on his bad days he looks 'odd'.......when there's trouble, guess who gets the finger pointed at him? Yet he has never, ever done anything wrong.

I assume from Ashbeloves silence, nothing came of his jumped up assumptions?!!
