At the moment you have the simple open of saying yes or no to a "would you like to meet me" question.

This is not unreasonable ice-breaker but I think that Flirtbox could offer an alternative.

On people's profiles members select the different things we are "looking for" and you offer to provide one of those options directly.

So if someone finds a member who is looking for either "...flirty fun?!" or "a long-term relationship" would be able to know which other member is applying for.

You could do it with a drop-down menu that lists that members chosen "looking for" options. This way someone looking for "sporting partners" and/or "just friends" don't get asked for a "casual encounter" or to take part in some kind of 3-some.

This would replace or go next to the "Do you want to meet me?" box.

I hope I've explained this well enough ...

To be honest, I dont think it would make one iota of difference.
Rarely do people actually read a profile, let alone look at what boxes were ticked.
For instance, when I had no photo up, I got messages saying "You have lovely eyes", when I wrote "I am in a relationship, just here to chat on the forums" I got asked "Fancy a shag?"
I wrote "I dont do msn" I got asked "msn me on....."
The Do you want to meet me thing to me is just a bit of fun to give the other person the hint you are kind of interested, even if you are too shy to actually write to say hello.
I sometimes use it just to say i find that person interesting, without being sexually interested in them (especially women I chat to on the forums).
I think someone else asked a while back, is there a list of who clicked No they didnt want to meet me?
Ultimately, I think you just have to be canny and do the legwork and find out what you want to know yourself.

I think a fair number of men (and scammers pretending to be women) are always just going to blast standard messages at people here, whatever you do, and then complain why no-one answers ...

However it would be nice to have an ice-breaker that allows the more thoughful, considered person to make an appropriate, initial "no-text" communication.

We provide the information, we might as well try to use it.
