I see that Flirtbox has a new mechanism to give other members a vote out of zero to five stars on their profile pages.

How does it work?

Ah, this is why nobody has used it yet ....

Just hover over it using your mouse and choose the number of stars....and click on it....you can only vote once per member though....the second time you visit the same page, the rating is disabled.

Have you got any ideas how to make it more self-explanatory?

I saw this kind of things being used on another site (a pay-to-contact dating site) and it was used to rate people. It was the equivalent of our "would like to me" feature and it's use was quite advanced.

You saw the number of stars each person had when you searched for people, in the search results, and you couldn't vote for yourself. You could also order search results by the number of stars they had.

You could even opt out of the voting system.

Getting a vote meant that you were alerted and told who gave you what vote.

You could also review your votes and even reject votes you didn't like. You could also change your rating of someone, if you changed your mind.

This meant you could give someone you fancied a high vote and see if they got back to you. However those sites had no forums and therefore no way to build up a connection with other people apart from a private message fired into the dark.

Here I imagine you would instead indicate who you value.

Currently you can not change your rating later on...and there are notifications yet......but I will add this in the future.

Now you can see why that other site allowed you to reject votes you didn't like ...

With anonymous ratings you could be marked down by a secret rival or potential suitors that you have said "no thanks" to. Rolling Eyes

No. I was just describing the other dating site, just in case God wanted to steal ideas from it.

Did you volunteer to be the subject of the star rating research?
