Most interesting reading... and I agree

Even tho' many of us have begun to step away from this stereotypical image, it is still the core of our unconcious thinking.

Oh absolutely, there are so many other factors involved that it only serves as a very rough guide.

Interesting that men often go for younger women, who are more likely to be fertile and survive childbirth, and women often go for older men, who would be more experienced and have more resources to offer.

Again, another sweeping generalisation, but interesting nonetheless.

Which is why it's so great when you get passed the child bearing phase. More options open up Wink

A lot of what you said is still prevelant in this day and age - if you love someone then you want to look after them, for men it is to protect and for women the more home comforts.

Things have not changed quite so much, and I for one say thank god for that!

Yeah, this paradigm only describes the most obvious interactions.
It doesn't, for instance, explain the well known 'milf' phenomenon!

Me too, although it's still important to remember that modern times have diluted it a great deal.
While I don't think anyone would be offended at the idea of a pregnant woman being unable to hunt boar, she obviously would be capable of continuing her job as a solicitor etc

Agreed - I for one would not want to hunt boar pregnant or not lol, but with all the blurrings of the gender divide a lot of men and women have sort of drifted away from the above roles and that makes me sad.

I have a v professional job, earn my own income and am quite capable of looking after myself, but I love the idea of someone protecting me and me looking after them!! (that has just gotten my memebership of the feminism club revoked! lol)

It's simple. You protect the things you care about. So if someone protects you it show's they put you first over them. How can that make you feel bad?
