I think the use of underwear to keep long-term reminders is pants ...

Going to find out how I stand at college taking days off for leisure pursuits. It's unlikely I can make it, specially as I've been off sick a fair bit this term but at least money isn't quite such a problem now.

I might be able to make the V & A outing, as I’m hoping to head up to London late next week for an extended visit.

I'm going to be late on the 9th. Any idea how long people will be around for? My flight lands at 11.50 and I'm aiming to come straight from the airport to the meet. Can't see myself getting there till 2.30ish.

I have never been to one of these meetings myself but guessing it will be fun what means we should not split up too soon. However, you better make sure you have telephone contact. How does it work anyway: Is Alice getting in touch with us beforehand or do we just meet in front? I have no idea?

Well I plan to arrive sometime between 11-11.30am and just turn up in the V&A foyer.....or should we meet in their refreshment/cafe place?

oakman- I don't expect to have anything else to have to rush away to either as I'll be staying on the Central Line route so don't have a train booked.

mimib- I've never been to a meet before either.

Very Happy

It will be good to see you all! We are quite a few now! Shall be good fun!

I am kind of hoping that at some point before the day, each person will have contact details with at least one other person, preferably exchange of mobile phone numbers, that way we will have a network of us all coming via mobile phone for the day, rather than one person being "group leader" and having the responsibility of keeping track of everyone.
Does that make sense?
Then on the day, some will no doubt arrange to meet one another outside, some in the cafe, etc. at various times, depending on who is planning to arrive at whatever time.
Oakman - it's open til 5pm so no doubt most will still be there and undoubtedly you wont be Billy-No-Mates when you arrive 2.30 ish, if you get someone's mobile number prior to the day, again, you will meet up with the rest of us no problem.
I just dont see this as a school outing with Teacher in charge, thats why I suggest we swap mobile numbers with whoever we wish.
We also have to bear in mind that the cafe probably isnt big enough to accommodate all of us in one go!
Still another couple of weeks to go, so not in a rush to get it all organised.

i've just checked and there seems to be a fair few eaty places nearby so we could go to them if there's alot of people and they are likely to be cheaper then the cafe in the v&a

You are quite right that there is no rush as we have plenty of time to sort things out.

Anyone who wants to swap numbers with me is welcomed.

Is it worth a second thought to actually meet at a place that is not announced in the thread as it had already 1300 views but only 69 replies? I don't think that I am a anxious person but you never know... Maybe we could find a place where we all fit in as well...

Mimib - the problem with having a secret meeting place is that people will be arriving at different times, also it is now public where we are going!
IF there were to be an unwelcome 'problem' person, well there are austere looking security guards at the V&A! Wink
As there is going to be rather a lot of us coming it makes more sense to me that we each take responsibility for ourselves and as I say link up as a network via mobile phones.
The V&A is a big place and no doubt different people will want to view different things at different times, so I envision us wandering around the place in smaller groups bumping into each other as we go along.
I am sure as raven suggests some people would like to branch off together to get some food etc. down the road there are macDs and suchlike, personally I dont want to be walking a long way in the cold, I'd rather find a few people to chat with and find a table at the V&A cafe.
