Haven't seen it yet. Mixed reviews, some say it's awesome, some say it's dreadful. So i'll have to see it at some point
01.06.2006, 18:43 quote
I just came back from the cinema and I would not say it was dreadful. It certainly isn't as good as Xmen 2, although it has some excellent moments, that I can't speak of for fear of ruining for all those yet to see it. It also has some bad moments, like hollywoods insistence on having large set pieces at famous American landmarks. It's part of what I liked about Xmen 2, they didn't feel the need to have a "statue of liberty scene".
It was a nice addition to the franchise and as always, Hugh Jackman kicked ass

Good stuff, let's hear some more user reviews like this.
Did you like the original X-men?
01.06.2006, 19:06 quote
It was alright. There were some good sequences, and again, Hugh Jackman nailed the Wolverine character which was kind of essential to the film, but there were always little things holding it back. Like the toad/storm fight. It never managed to be the film it wanted to be.
Another thing about Xmen 3 was the poor casting of Vinnie Jones as Juggernaught (Sp) that just didn't work for me at all. There was a nice turn by Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde though

Did the political slant bother you at all? I've only heard Americans complain about that, so maybe it's only a domestic problem.
Also, how's the plot hold up? It's shorter than the second by a good half hour.
01.06.2006, 19:14 quote
No the political slant didn't bother me and I hadn't heard that there were americans complaining about it, although it is hardly surprising.
The plot, well as long as you are not expecting much more than a big comic book movie then you will be alright.

saw x-men today not that bad lots of open endings only real problem was the terrible acting by vinnie jones as juggernaut aND THAT MUSCLE SUIT other thn that it was pretty good of course they took slight libertys with the whole x-men history but lets face it anymovie that has fraser crane as a big blue beast has got to be in my top ten movies.

In fairness the xmen continuity would be to complex for a big budget hollywood film and would alienate at least half of there target audience to appease some hard core fans who want to see a direct comic to film translation. They've done a fairly good job in creating there own continuity.
As to Vinnie Jones - what were they thinking? Why not just cast someone who could physically take on the role?

Hugh Jackman is amazing!

I went to see it and if you go in thinking that it is only a film it turns out to be fairly good there are some fantastic scenes and special effects in it, I actually came out thinking it was a good film, but I dont trust the critics
02.06.2006, 16:51 quote
I guess im too hooked on the comic books...i too dont want to give away any spoilers so i'll just say Rogues last scene left ALOT to be desired, if you havn't seen it, wait till after the credits!!
To be honest Juggernaut was terrible, but Storm was even worse
I felt very let down, but agian i guess i have to attribute that to my love of the comic books.
I think they introduced new characters and severly enderdeveloped them and didnt even bother developing the old characters (other than jean grey of course!)
Although, great casting of Angel!
What did you guys think of the casting then?
