Check the Asian Cinema for some cracking films. Try Asia Extreme...this isn't all horror movies and sick stuff, the likes of the Infernal Affairs Trilogy (Remade as the Departed) are amongst some of the best films ever made, especially the first one, if you haven't seen it, get it!!!

Try "A Bittersweet Life" - Korean Gangster film which is tremendous.

Classic Kurasowa, such as "Seven Samurai" and "Throne of Blood".

There is so much out there besides Hollywood!! I'm also big on the Silent Era, Griffith, Borzage and the like!!! Awesome!!!!

Bangcd.com is good and Play.com.

Y tu mama is mexican which is good and three colours Blue/White and Red are French and also excellent. Personally i like Italian films- La Vita E Bella is one of the best films i've ever seen and Cinema Paridiso is also very good. Il Ciclone is funny but very difficult to get in region 2.

hello All,

wow, didn't expect such discussions, call me a cynic!

I really liked 'Hidden' or 'Cache', a film in French by Michael Haneke, tense and frightening!

Roberto Begnini's "Life is Beautiful" is a classic, as is, "Johnny Stechanio" a mafia comedy.....

What else......

'Pan's Labyrinth' ?

big love......

other suggestions ...malena, todo sobre mi madre, el crimen del padre amaro, a very long angagement

Personally I can't get enough of Japanese and Korean horror films, they're the best in the world. If you ever hear of a Hollywood remake of one, ignore it completely and watch the original. It will be five times as freaky and ten times as tense.
