50 First Dates, Rent (especially Angel's funeral), Moulin Rouge, The Notebook, Green Mile, and tons more. I cry easily at movies
22.04.2007, 15:21 quote
For me...? Green Mile, Shawshank, Leon. and Million Dollar Baby. There are loads more of course, but will probably start welling up just thinking of em!

| Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: Glad you made it son.
Joe Galloway: Thank you, Sir, You too. Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: [after a short pause] I'll never forgive myself. Joe Galloway: For what, Sir. Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: That my men - that my men died and I didn't. Joe Galloway: Sir, I don't - I don't know how to tell this story. Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: Well you got to Joe. You tell the American people what these men did here. You tell them how my troopers died. Joe Galloway: Yes, Sir. Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: Thank you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Galloway: [Narrating] These are the true events of November, 1965, the Ia Drang Valley of Vietnam, a place our country does not remember, in a war it does not understand. This story's a testament to the young Americans who died in the valley of death, and a tribute to the young men of the People's Army of Vietnam who died by our hand in that place. To tell this story, I must start at the beginning. But where does it begin? Maybe in June of 1954 when French Group Mobile 100 moved into the same central highlands of Vietnam where we would go 11 years later. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Galloway: [Narrating] In Saigon, Hal Moore's superiors congratulated him for killing over 1,800 enemy soldiers. Then ordered him to lead the Seventh Cavalry back into the valley of death. He led them and fought beside them for 235 more days. Some had families waiting. For others, their only family would be the men they bled beside. There were no bands, no flags, no Honor Guards to welcome them home. They went to war because their country ordered them to. But in the end, they fought not for their country or their flag, the fought for each other. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: [Narrating] Dear Barbra, I have no words to express to you my sadness at the loss of Jack. The world is a lesser place without him. But I know he is with God and the angels and I know even Heaven is improved by his presence there. I know you too are sure of this and yet this knowledge can't diminish his loss and your grief. With abiding respect and affection, Hal Moore. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Galloway: [Narrating] We who have seen war, will never stop seeing it. In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams. So this is our story, for we were soldiers once, and young. |
it bought a tear to my eye after the horrors they had been through and the realisation of whats happened

Watched the Gaurdian last nite, great film, but omg i balled, titanic, i dryed so hard, Who will love my Children, and yrs ago the Champ, sure i evern cryed at charlene and scots wedding in neighbours ffs

I forgot to put Titanic before! I have seen that movie so many times, so I haven't cried watching it for awhile, but it still is so sad. The scene that gets me is when Jack and Rose are in the water and where everyone is trying to frantically get off the boat while the orchestra keeps on playing...

Requiem for a Dream...great film but soooooo depressing at the end.
Plattoon when he falls on his knees dieing and reaches to the sky while Barbers Adiago for Strings plays.
Full Metal Jacket at the end when the female sniper is dying and asking them to shoot her.
One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest when the Chief puts the pillow over Jack Nicolsons face to put him out of misery.
True Romance when Alabamba is getting beaten to a pulp.
All the above fims gave me a surge of emotion while watching them and that is what a truly superior film should so.

Jersey Girl - For obvious reasons.
Bubba Ho-Tep - For the whole old age thing. I think this film is more about mortality and dealing with old age than it is about Elvis and JFK beating the crap out of a zombie that sucks the souls out of people's asses. 'Get old, you can't even cuss someone and have it bother 'em. Everything you do is either worthless or sadly amusing.' You tell 'em Elvis.
Jacob's Ladder - Even though its a horror it has some really profound stuff going on. The last few minutes really get you thinking.
Johnny Got His Gun - If you don't feel anything after watching this you're dead on the inside. This film is the human condition laid bare.
The Deerhunter - Even though you know its coming, when Nick finally gets it you still get a kick in the nuts. That and after seeing it you could never watch 'The Gallery' on Tony Hart the same way ever again.
AI - Yes. For the most part its a superb cure for chronic insomnia, and a Spielberg ego-masturbation extravaganza, but the message is there and it does tug at the heart strings at the end.
Bicentennial Man - Okay, it might be a poor man's AI, but it does more of the same. In fact as a study of the human condition through the eyes of a robot its probably better, but it doesn't have the immediate shot for the heart because the central character isn't modelled on a kid.
Pretty In Pink - Dunno. Does it for me every time.
Watership Down - Well duh.
It's A Wonderful Life - Double duh.
Once Were Warriors - 100 minutes of pure futility. This film is so underrated.
