I watched a superb film yesterday, caleed 'Pan's Labyrinth'. It is a foreign film (ie. Has subtitles), and is kinda like, a dark fairytale, about this young girl who moves with her Mother to an officers camp (I think it is set in the middle of World War 1, but it might be WW2). Anyway, the Officer is a right bast&$d, and as an escapism the girl meets this Fairy, and then this Fawn, which begin to give her little missions to do, saying she is a princess from the underworld. I'm not sure if she rreally sees them, or it is in her imagination.
I really enjoyed this film, and was wondering if anyone else has seen it? If so, whats your take on it?
:>

Yeah bought it on DVD not long ago...Absolute masterpiece and well worth a watch. Very, very dark and grim but keeps you fixed to the srceen throughout. Funny to think it's directed by the same guy that did Hellboy (great film too). Check out his other film The Devils Backbone if you enjoyed Pan's.

look forward to it after my exams - my siblings rave on & on about the animation set in the spanish civil war,
Along with Devil's Backbone El Toror alos created Cronos ( or Chronos) , though they are all seperate themes with a subtle link between the trio

I loved this, though for some reason I'd got it into my head it was a kids movie.. I realised my error very very quickly. Beautifully filmed.

Hi there,
Its a great film, but it sure as heck is not a kids film....I've actualy seen it be a little too much for some adults even as there is quite a brutal torture scene in it and its very much real world violence and malevelence done in a realistic way.
Apart from that it is quite beautiful and moving in places and maybe the harsh reality of the potential evilness of men and war makes it all the stunning ?

Lee
