Man, I love the scarey movies. Trust me, I've seen my share of good, bad and dirt ugly. Here's my picks......

GOOD - From Dusk Till Dawn - a vampire movie that has it all - a mexican strip joint, Cheech, Quentin Tarantino and an R.V driven by Robert Duvall !!

BAD - Ghosts of Mars - a film set on the planet Mars, where mining leads to the awakening of an anchient evil - hang your head in shame Ice Cube, this movie is a dis-jointed weak effort [nothing like "Anaconda"]

UGLY - High Tension [Haute Tension] - a French film about two female schoolmates who visit the one's parents in the country, only to fall prey to a vicious killer.... or do they??? I won't ruin it for anyone who has'nt seen it. Why is it ugly? The deaths in this flick are totally sick !!! This is a good pizza party movie, just to gauge the "Puke Levels" of your friends

Good - I disagree that Dusk till Dawn is scary, even if it is a great film. I'd go with "The Thing" for pure first-watch scares. Or really anything Carpenter, even. For a modern scary flick, you'll be hard pushed to find anything beyond "cheap scares".

Bad - I'd agree with your Ghost's of Mars as being bad, but there's so many awful b-movies out there. I'll stick with GoM then.

Ugly - Braindead

Sweet, I did'nt think anyone would respond. Man, I gotta agree with "The Thing" as far as "visible jump" factor goes. Also, I was pretty entertained by "Wrong Turn". Who does'nt love a good "inbred hillbillies on a rampage" flick. I found the most disturbing thing in "Hostel" was that gang of little kids jacking people on the street. It looked like one of them would stick you with a rusty butcher knife if you did'nt pay. Damn kids.

Thanks for the response guys, let's see if we can get some more

Re: HORROR MOVIES - the good, the bad and the ugly - wasn't that a Western?

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is a western movie. It just so happens that by some twisted coincidence, I decided to set up this discussion page using that format. That way, people can give a good movie, a bad movie and a movie that is just sick and full of guts and blood. If you just want something to criticize, go check out the dating and advice discussion boards. This was just something I put up so people can talk about horror movies.

I actually found the Blair Witch Project quite scary the first time I watch it.
OK, I was alone and really stoned at the time but it was better than I expected at least!

Hide and Seek was quite scary too. As was 'The hole'. Everything else just seems to make me laugh!
