31.12.2008, 10:05 quote
Does anyone know whether the CIA (or nice) is really as omnipotent as it's portrayed in this film?
From watching the news in Britain, it seems that our police, or MI5/6 can't do a thing without a major media uproar and shouts of human rights, yet the CIA seem to be able to abduct our citizens off the streets and gun people down in crowded stations.
I'm guessing this is all just fantasy, if not, I'm going to be watching the CCTV cameras more closely when I'm catching a train from Waterloo.

I'm fairly sure that this is a complete fantasy, although I was impressed that film bothered to feature the Guardian for some local colour.
However a lot of wierd things do happen in any large city and it depends on how fond you are of conspiracies how many you associate with espionage.

I think that the likes of MI5 let us know what they want us to know.
Have you ever thought about why they recruit online from their very own website?
Does this mean they dont do anything covert anymore?
Shocking.
As for CIA and MI6, I have a couple of friends around the world....yeah they kind of operate in real life just like in the movies.
But its best we watch stuff like Rambo, the Bourne Ultimatum etc and kid ourselves that its just fantasy.
We all sleep better that way.
ooops i missed the bit about gunning people down in crowded stations.
Maybe they carry those flashing pen thingies that tommy lee jones used in MIB?
