Is there any1 else out there appalled by how bad this show is compared to Life On Mars?I knew it wouldnt be in the same class but some of the casting and soundtrack choices are awful.

I'm actually quite enjoying it. I'm not convinced it was a good idea to have it follow the same lines as Life on Mars (with the copper going back in time), maybe they should have just made it a straight cop show set in the 80s. But I think it's been quite good so far, and Gene Hunt is the greatest bloke in the world ever.

Definitely preferred 'Life on Mars'.

I think Ashes To Ashes is a bit more like reheated seconds. Life On Mars was just brilliant and I think much of the success was down to the way the two dominant central characters played against each other.

This new series really lacks sharpness now that the Sam Tyler character isn't in it and although Keely Hawes is good, it doesn't have the same edge without Gene having the softer male Yin to his ruff Yang!

Saying that, still some great one-liners, like the last show when they tried spying on a suspect and Hunt said they looked like "Tinker, tailor soldier twat!"

I've loved both LOM and A2A.. can't wait for season 2 next year.

Think it's the Gene character that makes the show what it is though - fantastic one liners !

I know it's just so politically incorrect but i damn near fell off the chair with some of them... and i think that's why it's so refreshingly good tv - there's nothing else like it.
