Do work relationships work?

I've never had one, but ill admit i've been tempted now and again. Is it worth the risk and the potential hassel?

There are one or two couples at my work, but I don't believe in having a relationship with someone from the workplace cos what if it's someone that you work beside and if one of you gets dumped, how can you be able to cope with working with them after that?

I dated someone from work! thejungle drums were so efficient that everyone knew the ins and outs of where we had been on nights out that the pressure was too great! plus the fact i was higher up than her made it difficult etc! never again!

I think it can work just as long as you can seperate your personal life from your professional one!

Was electric. Dates were a bit limited to how far we could go though. Could never be further away than 50 yards from an electric socket in case its batterys went flat.

My last misses was someone i worked with. It was fine. In fact it was good fun cos nobody knew so we'd have this cheeky smile whenever we crossed paths. She was working in admin and i was on engineering so we only saw each other a couple of times per day.

Im not convinced it would work well for me - I suppose it depends on who you are whether it works.

Am I getting to be pessimistic about life but I keep thinking about the bad points - the 'Jungle Drums', and office innuendo, what happens if it all goes badly wrong - does one of you have to move jobs? if you are in a senior - junior relationship if the junior one gets promoted - everyone will say its cause of sleeping with the boss, and if they dont, then there is a row why the senior one didnt push for the junior to get promotion, that type of thing.
