ive sent out quite a few and had no reply to any of them and that does seem a bit rude. people could at least acknowlage you at least by replying even if its to say i dont feel like talking. i dont want to sound like a snob but it seems rude not to reply. is it me or my profile that puts people off. when i message i say hello comment on aspects of there profile that are similar to mine coment on how there pictures look. i dont say anything nasty. it just seems wierd that no one replies

i get what your saying but how do you make the first message interesting enough for someone to reply. an example of one of mine is:

hello there ive taken a good look at your profile and ive noticed you like the same music as me. you have some nice pics to. would you like to chat. how are you

I so wish more people had manners!!! Its cost nothing to be polite and to answer messages, even if its a "thanks! but no thanks!" Good luck though i am sure it will happen for you Smile

maybe..just maybe..some people think that even if they reply with a 'no thankyou' msg, the other person will msg back trying harder, or will ask the question..'why not'..hence a conversation as such is started which they didnt want..just like the person in the pub scenario who pesters and wont take no for an answer...
not saying this happens..but maybe the thought is ...'why take that chance, surely if i say nothing they will know anyway'..

After all..the site is a 'virtual dating' place, so it is easier to do this..

maybe..lol

The option to block a member is always there as a last resort to unwelcome messages!

I agree, but what i was trying to say was that if the person doesnt msg back to the opening msg in the first place then usually, they might assume, they wouldnt get any unwelcome msgs...the option to converse is removed...but yes..if they did then they could block them i agree..

I was only offering this idea as a possibility of what some people might think..maybe i am totally wrong..

I agree with the idea that no message gives out a "forget it signal" but not everyone can accept a rebuttal?

But on Flirtbox you don't know if they've even read the message, or whatever, so you're never sure if they're not interested, not read it, not had time to reply, or anything.

On another site I'm on, it tells you when your messages are read, and I've had a few where they'd read it, and not replied, and then replied a few days later when they got chance, so even checking when they were last online wouldn't prove anything.

Personally I'd rather have the feedback so as to know what went wrong, whether my messages are too long/short/boring, my profile is rubbish, I look ugly in my pics or whatever.

At least that way you can improve what you're doing wrong.

There IS an outbox, however Toby appears to have forgotten to code it to the mail page. You can "hack" it by clicking your inbox and then modify the URL in the address bar so that the "inbox" bit reads "outbox". From there, you can see what's read/not read.

Its also worth checking when they were last online, you will find a lot of people havent been on the site for months, if not over a year!!!
