in my past 2 relationships:

1 - she was an abusive alcoholic who would never compromise on anything and never admit when she was wrong - even when she knew it!!!

I stuck around because i was convinced that i loved her (i think that whole dependancy thing emerged where i thought if i left i would be hurting her more) - in the end i just thought - "what the hell" and left. Sort yourself out missus as i've tried....

2 - she was a control freak - she worked as a stewardess and when on a flight and i was off i moved the sofa towards the tv and hooked up the playstation - she came home - i'd made dinner, drawn her a bath and fired up some scented candles - did this all matter - no - all she did was complain about the "dints" in the carpet from where the sofa has been moved too - i wouldnt mind but it was my f*****g house too!!!

from that point on - and agree with the other posts - i wont share my life with someone i dont get on with - and i certainly dont tolderate mind games.

I do listen, but sometimes, when i've had a hard day at work, the last thing i want to do for 30 mins is TALK - i have been doing it all day!!

let me unwind - then we'll have a good old natter with a bottle of wine - explain this and you're being selfish, inconsiderate, not listening to her needs etc...

now i'd like to thing i'm a compassionate, understanding, supportive guy.....but why when someone like me acts the way i do, but some guys can treat some girls so badly, that subconciously they enjoy it and come back for more?????

well here goes showing my age again, when i was in my 20's mind games were abound, not that i didnt do it, im honest about that, but i think as we get older we see the mind games very quickly and put a stop to it, and as you grow older mind games are a waste of time on both sexes, it causes unnecessary heartache on both parts, i think every woman tries to change the man to her satisfaction, but again the older you get the less perfections you worry about and care for each other for what is and not for what could, will or should have been. thats one thing about living together before you get married is good for.
