I tend not to reply to the msgs from men that simply say "hi" and suchlike cuz I don't know how to respond! I am basically quite shy and like another lady on here said tend to 'select myself out' by saying to myself "he wouldn't be interested in me" etc. It can be really hard work getting dialogue going with someone who writes one or two word messages back. Especially the ones who clearly have not read my profile (how can you love my smile when I dont have a photo up?!). When I first joined I was really worried it would be full of men who are just after one thing (which I'm not really) but amazingly it seems the ones who contact me are living far far away and are just trying to practice their chat-up techniques - from a safe distance over the internet, then just when the convo starts to get interesting and the real person (or at least a 'personality') starts to show himself, they vanish!!! Its like they are thinking OMG this is getting ttttoooo real.....gotta make my escape before the real me gets noticed! I thought people wanted to actually *meet*? Evidently not....

Maybe people are going with the princeple of "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything". I can live with that, though a few more visitors would be nice .
