'on holiday' Before sunset you eat on the beach front, get chatting, have a good dance, and walk her home along the see front hand in hand. Before being invited in for a good night kiss. Very Happy

best first date is doing something exciting during the day, like go carting, or white water rafting, then going 2 chill out over dinner, it has to be oe of those 3 course dinners where u sit there for hours drinking and eating till u cant move, and fully get into each others heads. if ur awake aough after that then clubbing is good, but maybe not on a first date, as u want 2 b able to hear the other person talking. just sitting outside somewhere watching the world go by is always good as well.

Theres this place I went in melbourne, I think it was called Melbourne botanical gardens. It had plants and flowers from all over the world, wild fruit bats, the most beautiful lakes. It was alost painful to be there alone. So id say there during the afternoon, hire a boat, stocked with wine and bread/ cheese, catch snapper and cook what you catch fishing, sail out to sea to watch the sun go down. Then walk along the shore under the stars, arrange for a quiet restuarant to serve dinner to you alone, on a table only for you two, set on the beach surrounded by candles. Swim at midnight in the sea, naked.

Any first date where we get along is perfect for me.

The activities themselves don't really matter, usually they turn into a bit of a blur when the attraction's there.

Have to agree with Kathy, ideal date would be doing something adventurous during the day. But i would follow it up with a sunset picnic, n if anyone is nr the wigan area the sunset would look just like it does right now. Then of to a nice pub for a good chat n a few games of pool.

Have to agree with this. If you 'click' with the person then you can be anywhere and doing anything and it will be fun.

I dunno, never actually been on what I'd call a date Sad

Always dated friends - have obviously been OUT with them, but never had what I'd call a first date

Am I the only one?

i have noticed that the english have a very strange attitude to dates...

in other contries asking somone out for a date is merely registering interest, and its just a pleasnt way to get to know each other...

over here a date seems to be a massive, huge, great, full on thing, almost like a marrage vow... Confused

it puts way too much pressure on the whole thing, people's feelings tend to get hurt.... hardly any dates happen and its just f***ed up....

please God fix it for us English people, we have suffered long enough.... Very Happy

The whole idea of the 'first date' is great, but if you are going out for the first time, especially if you meeting for the first time too then lots of jopes, expectations and plans can go right out the window if you dont 'click'. So for me the first date would just be a coffee/drink and chat, establish any common interests etc the the dats that follow can be the fun filled/romantic ideals we all dream of. Id just hate to plan a full day/evening of loads of things to do then discover in the first half hour that I actually dont much like the person I am with, as you said Mrchappy, too much pressure, what ever happended to just taking things as they come naturally Laughing
