Friday eve, met a woman from another site, profile said 44, pic looked okay, upon meeting she was obviously nearer 50, quite a lot different to the pic (I suspect the pic was taken 10 years ago actually) - she was friendly enough etc, so thanks, but no thanks.

Oh that's not very fair but it shows how useful it can be if you both have web cams so you can see each other beforehand..... avoiding the nasty shocks of a first real meeting.
There are a lot of people who have very old pics up on fbx as I've been here about 3 years now and there's quite a few that have the same pics up. I can look different in a week, let alone 3 yrs or more!
I think a lot of forum users tend to up date their pics more often because we've realised from the threads how important they can be.

Last time I spoke on cam with a woman was about a month ago, she said my pics didn't do me justice and that I was really cute lol....I told her to take the beer goggles off UT

But after that I wouldn't mind speaking to people on cam where as before it was always a bit daunting, like make or break time Laughing

Tbh I don't like using the web cam unless it's with my close family and friends.
However, I do recognise that it's a good way of 'meeting' as you can see each other s gestures and expressions, so you get a better 'feel' about whether they're the kind of person they seemed, and of course you can tell if there's a true likeness with their on-line pics
Most times I use my cam I have my indoor look, so I feel that I'm usually looking my worst, and I wouldn't set out the house looking like it. But in some ways you could say it's better that way, 'cos if they like you in your worse appearance then you can have more confidence that they will like the way you look when you go out to meet them.

Wouldn't it impress all the people he met? Laughing

You in business black, with a briefcase and sitting just behind and to his right.
Everytime he sits down, he waves his hand and says, 'My advisor, AM. You'll have to impress her too!'
And then you make notes on each person he meets.
I think it would work! Razz

Wouldn't he be memorable? Especially when he ends by saying, 'Usually I just sent AM, but today - you're lucky - I'm here in person.'
