Ok...so I just read the rest of the posts on this topic and realized that I seem to have made a HUGE error. I'm sorry. I know that there are multiple accents that are British. I AM a sucker for them all. Sorry if this made me appear like another some stupid American broad that thinks Hugh Grant represents all of Britain. I'm actually not a big fan of his. David Tennant is more my style.

For me it has to be Welsh, it has a tonal quality that I can listen to for hours.

Another one that makes me melt is the southern American accent, specifically if it has that deep south ring to it. I find it very inviting and friendly. Not so keen on the more coarse New York accent though.

The "Southern American" accent??? What on earth for?? I don't find my accent appealing at all! I think that if anything it would sound like nails on a chalkboard if you hear it to much!! lol

I feel the same about my own accent. I guess when you've lived with it all your life, it starts to grate on you. Mine is slightly more refined than the local accent due to so many years in Asia where I had to speak a little more precisely to make myself understood.

I do like the accent because it sounds so much more friendly. Also there's a certain tone that makes me want to hear it more.

The Southern American accent is totally in right now thanks to True Blood, the t.v. show. I love the accent personally.

I was brought up with Beverly Hillbillies and Dukes of Hazard, although they are really faked accents. I also had a friend at school who came to the UK from Louisiana via Guam where his father was stationed in the USAF.

I guess it's the inflections that make them sound as if they are always happy. There again, it could be because they got a few doses of Granny's cure-all Laughing (Moonshine for those who don't remember the Beverly Hillbillies).
