some people are a bit insecure and look for instant gratification - loveless pissed up 1 night stands, i think we have all bin there and got the T shirt. i dont want that now . i like to get to no girls first, drinks / dinner etc. then see what happens.. down the line.

True, its an internet society, its an internet dating site! most fellas these days can easyly find instant gratification anywhere on the net, i guess its only a small step in time to expect ladies to perform the same instant gratification.
i know its not reality, nor is is romantic nor form any basis for a relationship other than cyber ! but sometimes it can be a good starting block for people who find it hard to comunicate with others, or find it hard to find time to meet real people.
me personaly i come to places like this to meet diff people, have a laugh and see what happens, unfortunately there will always be those who look for cheap thrills and cyber sex, like the guys said romance is not dead, nor is chivalry, you just have to dig through the hordes of instant gratification seekers to find someone who could give you what your looking for !
look at it as a learnign experience, dont loose heart or faith in people cos you dont your self instantly find what your looking for lol after all all the best things in life dont come easy

I have been wondering the same thing.

It's a tough one. The anonymity of the net gives people an opportunity to behave like that. I don't think you should put all your eggs in one basket and just use a site like this to try and find someone. My experience with online dating suggests you meet more knob heads than genuine, interesting people. Most of the time you meet no-one at all.

How very sad. Maybe it would be a good idea to join a club of like-minded people, or take up a new sport ... or dress up and go to a pub/bar. Go dancing ... Smile at a stranger. There must be a 1000 things you can do other than this.

You know that feeling you get when you realise something isn't going to work? I have that all the time but I still keep trying. Perhaps it's just me but I've never gone for 'instant gratification' prefering to try to find a long term lover or (as they say around here) "maybe more". No-one seems up for that. Okay ...

But remember this is a FREE site! I've been on Udate, Dating Direct, & AfroIntroductions which are paying/subscription sites. You don't get as many direct sex pests I've been told by the ladies on them, although you still get harrassed by some idiots, but you just put a block on them. Or allow only the people you like (or add to your favourites) to contact you. Maybe because they actually have to shell out cash for those sites, they act different, i dunno.

Aw, Toby, its not the choosing the wrong guy, its the most people(men and women) come across with the messages, i recvd one here the other day and the guy had at least 15 ???? for me, the first two were "would u date me?, Would u sleep with me?" I didnt choose him he chose me. Another one here was real nice and we messaged a few times and then he said to check out his yahoo profile, i went there and lo and behold there is this big d****k staring me in the face. So, I know there is romance and love out there and we do have to choose, its trying to weed out the crazies that message you.

The fact is we are all actually reading these threads means there is a market for e:dating. Yes! there will be some people looking for one night stands, some for a bit more before the glory and some some looking for long term romance. Is this any any different from "reality". I guess its just a different mode of meeting people.
