Okay so lets try something different. Imagine you have an attractive person of whichever gender near you. How would you start flirting? (forget minor details like hulking boyfriends or girlfriends with flick knives, be brave).
I will start.
Hi pretty lady would you mind if I bought you a drink?
07.09.2006, 18:36 quote
Being Scottish I would go up to a fine lady and ask her if she wanted to buy me a drink
Failing that I would try and make eye contact and smile if she did'nt run screaming to bouncers(has been known to happen...joking)I would just go and start talking like is'nt it dark in here and other intelictual items
If this helps you get back in touch and then I'll try them
07.09.2006, 18:45 quote
I find eye contact and smiling works for me..... (sometimes!!)
If there's a guy I find attractive say, standing at the bar, I might walk past him to get to the ladies (providing it was in that sort of direction I must add - I don't just wander around and about a few tables like I'm directionally challenged!
) and give him a little smile on my way past! If he smiles back then I smile again (with teeth!) on my way back from the ladies!!!
(ha ha, I'm laughing at myself typing this!!
)
Then sometimes, said attractive gent might have been given enough "come on" to come over and chat!
LOL.... ha ha ha ha!! I'm cringing here, because I actually do do this and it sounds so embarassingly cringe-worthy! LOL!

Well, that might leave the options open for him to start a conversation....
"I saw you smiling at me, do I know you?" (this is, not sure what to say, so will test the water!)... then I might say, No, but would you like to get to know me?!!
"I saw you smiling, you've got one lovely smile" (flattery option!) Me: Why thanks, you have a great smile yourself, so you out with a group of friends, or is it just you & your mate.... etc....
"I saw you smiling - just thought I'd come over and let you know you have something stuck in your teeth!!!!" (The humorous / break the ice approach - this one would win with me - I love someone who can crack a joke!)
"I saw you smiling at me and wondered where you got your caps done, I'm looking for a good dentist!" (I don't have caps by the way, but you might get a cheeky one testing the water!)
So there you go.... was I any help?!

Don't be embarrassed Spare, for one thing you take the initiative. For another thing some of us guys are taking notes. See teeth, check, she might like us.
Double check she is fairly pretty, where is the hulking boyfriend with axe? Is there a back entrance from this place?

LOL, good tactics Ray - always be on your guard. Some women are sent to try you!!! I would generally say though (well personally speaking) if I was in a relationship I wouldn't be smiling (with teeth) at strangers!!! So if you get the knowing smile (and you'll recognise the "smile" - its different to a pleasant, pass the time of day, nod and smile) then I reckon you're safe!
But maybe the other girls will step in here and give their thoughts - this is only my 'technique' and lets not forget, I'm single!!! LOL!

Ah the eye contact works best! a cheeky grin and just a bit of watching and find something to open a conversation with!

07.09.2006, 21:30 quote
I just say 'show us ya jugs'.
No wonder Im single. It did work once though. The lady in question pulled out these cracking pair of jugs....she worked for royal doulton and I was so over whelmed by the quility of the glaze I had to have them.

I do not believe that for one minute Red!
I take a deep breath, smile, eyes open and hope that he is not looking at me thinking 'oh shit the fat girl is grinning inanely at me!'

A girl asked me if I wanted a drink in the pub the other night...'thanks Dawn' I replied, 'I'll have my usual'.
