I am conducting research on those over 45 male and female who use internet dating. I am in my final year at Nottingham University. No names and addresses are needed, all information provided would be fully confidential and this is backed by the university. Simply copy and paste the link below and it will direct you to the short questionnaire. If any one has any questions feel free to send me a message and feel free to discuss this topic within the forum with others. (i would like to encourage this!)

Sorry, your poll doesn't look right to me. Wouldn't it be more realistic to ask:

less than 30 miles
more than 30 miles
more than 50 miles
more than 100 miles

Poll still not changed, but I would (and have) travelled more than 100 miles - waaaay more than 100 miles Smile

For my last proper date I got a day return from Plymouth to London, but ended up staying there for a few days (I suppose it turned out to be what is known as a hot date). Personally, I regard anything under 100 miles as a perfectly acceptable distance to travel for a date, and anything over 100 miles OK assuming that there is the potential for something a little more long term.

I've possibly changed my views in the last few months and probably would travel a fair distance if there was someone I thought was worth it.

That kind of upheaval would be a worry.

Yep, having said that if it was someone that I truely loved i'd move without a seconds hesitation. And I guess now im willing to travel a bit more to see someone i'd like to get to know better.

Great! Everyone is joining in! It seems most of you would travel quite far to meet someone. What is the feeling when you go and meet someone for the first time? Never done it myself but i imagine that its pretty nerve wrecking. your opinions and experiences would be appreciated! (can't seem to change the poll? it won't let me!) Laughing

You cant change polls after peeps have voted as far as i know.

And first meets are always nerve wracking Very Happy Met a supposedly cute 20 something once, was actually a nymphomanic 60 something Very Happy Needlessly to say I single handly beat the world record for the 200m dash Razz

Nope, nerves of steel, me Smile Seriously though, I feel more nervous if I know that a lot depends on the first sight of each other, especially when there has been talk (email, chat, whatever) of the potential of something long term.

Pffft, yeh right, like I'm going to go into detail here when I'm looking for a new girlfriend. I want her (whenever she turns up here) to think I am the epitomy of discretion (which I am)
