you seem to be analysing it too much and reading something into it thats simpy not there - there's this book you should read its called "he's just not that interested" you can basically apply it to women as well - i think would help you see that she isn't that interested. if you can't handle that then move on and no defo don't buy her a big OTT birthday present - just get something simple and impersonal like you would for any other of your friends - a bit of money or a voucher or something.

However, and because u like her...what I would do is to wish her the best with that who she likes and say good bye...usually they will ask to stay friends and I usually say NO.

You will always have that hope to get her back and u dont wana keep it so she can get back to you when she finds no one else....do u want to be the plan B in her life??!!! or the spare tyre just when in need..??!!!
