Just thought i would post this, as its dating related...

Quote:
Women do not see macho men as a sound bet for a long-term partnership, preferring those with more feminine features, a study suggests.
Men with masculine features like large noses and small eyes were seen as less warm, less faithful and worse parents than more feminine counterparts.

Some 400 British men and women made judgements after viewing photographs in which the features were subtly altered.

"In a modern society physical strength is not a necessity but potentially a threat. A woman may choose a more feminine partner because it may reduce the chance of violence towards her and any offspring they produce.

what constitutes a feminine face and a masculine one though? isnt that open to interpretation?

Rest of the story is here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6934664.stm

there is a test on there as well to do with identifying face types...

Bollox. I think 400 peeps isn't a number big enough to settle this matter and I also think, due to the results saying that "In a modern society physical strength is not a necessity but potentially a threat. A woman may choose a more feminine partner because it may reduce the chance of violence towards her and any offspring they produce." that such conclusions could be different if you'd be taking into consideration a larger variety of facts (like cultural and such).
Besides... They could've at least posted the age of the people takin' part in this test. Laughing

Yeah, 400 people is a small sample.
I've also heard information to the contrary.
If women aren't attracted to machismo, what would be the point of it in the first place?
At the end of the day 90% of statistical conclusions are misinterpretations!

So what they're basically saying is that women aren't attracted to men?

You know, somehow, I'm guessing thats not true. I'm sure the Chinese would have something to say about it anyway.

Well, …from the way some of the women chase each other on these forums I don’t think that’s 100% inaccurate

Lol , that does kinda throw a spanner in the works dont' it.. Its true, though, the results of that survey would also be different depending on the location in the country, the 'wealth' level of the interviewees, etc, etc ..

Wasnt there something similar on another thread? How guys who were more effeminate were more likely to be LTR candidates, where as macho/muscly blokes were more likely to be one night stands and short relationships?

I think that there is some truth in the article because look at the success of boy bands over the past 17 years like New Kids On The Block, Take That, Boyzone and Westlife. All their members had slightly effiminate handsome looks similar to that of male models rather than manly macho looks of people like rugby players and boxers.

TRUE.

I so used to lurve them all. I mean who the hell wouldn't lurve someone lookin like that, sigin' like that and telling you such sweet words, what are ya nuts?
I'm under the impression guys always hated boy bands. Wonder why. meheheheh. Very Happy
However, in this particular case, I wouldn't necessarily pick a man like that to be the head of a family... Though they are good for lurrrrrrve. Very Happy Pure lurve. Again, what man with a good brain and looks like westlifes would say those words? LOL. Maybe in real life some women would actually ditch guys just because of sayin those words, but we still like them because all dream to be a princess in our childhood, don't we? It's all a matter of who's saying the words. Very Happy
However if it were for the head of the family I'd gladly choose someone stronger not weaker than I. Like Michael Madsen that is. Razz Maybe that's cause I'm quite strong myself and I wouldn't want my hubby to be efeminate. And that fearing him is bullshit most of the times, except for the BDSM part. Very Happy I still don't get it how women can be so weak... Oh well.
And since you've mentioned westlife and now you got me going, I'd dare mention the U.S. MARINES all the girls have the hots for. Are they efeminate? I think not. And I doubt girls wouldn't marry a marine. If they wouldn't maybe it'd be just because they're off most of the time.

anyone here saying that macho men score over feminine types is, quite frankly, indulging in a debate that goes round and round with no end.
point being that studies like this are pointless because they attempt to tell you how most people behave

sadly, most people like to feck up the results. so it's true while some women fancy a more sensitive type. some, like bliss here fancy a large burly ape man

it varies from person to person.

oh and boy bands just. are. not. right. they're not boys anymore!
