I message once in a while and just say 'I like you' a bit simple may be, but it always gets the response I wanted as they will reply with the information as to whether they're interested or not. Obviously I can only say that I like them from the given profile information or what they say on the forums.

I don't do a lot of asking! I guess that I think that if they are interested in a conversation with me.... they will. The only time that I really do send a message is if they have said something particularly funny and I will just comment on that. Guess that I am still a little to shy for anything else. I love to joke around so if I can start it off there then I feel better about it.

The way I look at it, if you don't make the first move, you may be missing out. Either some guy you might like has skimmed your profile and not seen what he's looking for or he may just think you're not going to fancy him for some reason.

Giving a little prod to say 'I'm here if you want to chat' would give him the message that you're interested enough to want to talk to him. You never know, it may be the guy of your dreams so would you really want to let that chance slip away?

Like others have said, what's the worst that could happen? He replies to say he's not interested in you. But there again, it could be the start of something big. You are pretty much anonymous so there's really no point in being shy on the internet.

I guess that I could be missing out but then again so could he!! I pride myself on being an independent person but I sometimes fall back to the past way of thinking when it was the men that did the asking. I have however come out of it a little when chatting online because it does feel safe to do so. Some of the things that I can say online I could never say in person. So I am working on it!! Guess that I will just have to take my chances until then!!
