Just learn a few decent japanees sentences, some polite ie: thanks etc and a few questions / greetings etc.

Speaking in someones native language goes a long way...

I do technical translations of nearly every language as part of my job??? i can read and understand the damn stuff but dont ask me to speak it????? try asking for an orange juice in Brazil? take you weeks to untie the knots in you tongue?????

I've found that native asians in general have a lot of traditions and different values to us westerners which could make it tricky for us to get a look in.

Learning some phrases is always a good idea, very basic ones like hi how are you, whats your name etc etc

Isn't it great when newbies come along, post a topic and then never return to comment or thank ppl for their replies/advice/suggestions......

Maybe he's to busy learning Japanese on line....or downloading Japanese porn.
