Catherine,

Ironically I have trouble getting women to not think I was only after love. Recently, after meeting with a women whom I deeply admire I emailed her to let her know of this admiration and that I would like to get to know her more personally. But I indicated to her my worry that she might take it to mean I was primarily interested in a sexual relationship.

Anyway before she replied I appologised fot the email, if only for its impulsiveness and silly assumptions, and she said no problem. She said she was in a relationship with someone else and so we could only be friends. She said she'd still want to get together with me for drinks or coffee sometime, and she emphasised that she really meant that.

But I never really wanted to have love with this woman, so I'm at a loss as to why I cannot be "more personal" with her yet that not entail love.

i've got this theory that if you act really gay, your date will feel 'safe' and all sordid intentions will be cast aside..

not sure you'd get a 2nd date though....

Women, it’s all very well saying that you’re not after guys who want a quick shag and you think that all guys are like that, here one from a guy to a girl....try picking up the bill! The last 3 dates I’ve been out on I’ve paid for everything, am i bit bitter...YES!!! am I scrooge nope, I just feel that it’s easy to demand equal rights and then stick to this stereotype that guys provide and pay the bills and pay for dates and buy girls chocolates and flowers, I personally don't subscribe to this mantra.

I have never had a girl buy me flowers, twice buy me chocolates, NEVER taken me to see a movie, that’s crap in my book, maybe I’ve dated the wrong type of girls who knows, but I’ve has this chat with enough guys and the general feeling is that women want to have their cake and eat it, bit of old and bit of new.

Ladies....try paying for the first date or contributing, that really goes a long way and gets noticed, guys like flowers too, it’s the thought that counts, chocolates are great( although not anymore because I’m training).

Personally I don't know how some guys can go out with a girl with the sole intention of getting a shag, am I the only one that finds that total unfulfilling and boring, I think you need to share a connection in order to really enjoy love. love gets boring after a while anyway, needs spice, need change, my tastes are actually pretty kinky but that’s just me, but in order to enjoy the kinky stuff you have to be with someone you connect with, someone you trust, someone you enjoy being with, that’s why a shag is the most emptiest and totally unfulfilling thing you can do, I’d rather watch paint dry!

i actually don't mind paying for dates, taking chocolates and / or a rose - i prefer the old style traditions.

To answer the main question in the topic - i don't specificly go out with someone just because i want to have love with them... wake up and smell the roses... there's more to life than love. If i take someone on a date, it's because i like them as a person, not because i want to get them in the sack

I agree with ye s6boystu, no lady should be expected to pay on the first date...geeez, you'd think this guy was Scottish! Very Happy

Regarding the whole love thing...from what I've read so far there's alot of hot blooded guys out there thinking only with thier peckers huh, you know what they say...there's not enough blood to supply the brain & an erection at the same time! I'm definately not here for love, I just want to meet Miss Right and just hope that all these drooling perverts don't prevent me from doing so.

I'm only looking for a relationship! I don't care about love...

love is an added bonus to any relationship. But its not my prime goal in life...

Would rather have a fun loving happy relationship over love!!!
