i dont' think internet dating is a complete waste of time, but i think it's harder and harder to meet people online who are geniune and honest, that goes for a lot of sites even ebay ! That said and done, everyone on this forum seems sound !

I know that there are a lot of people in the world who for one reason or another feel excluded or lonely. A free site like this is like the sixties all over again. Love which includes all is something which only communities in places like India, Nepal and Thailand really understand. Places where money and material wealth are put second to community and people.

I am by no means a buddhist, but I do have a great deal of respect for their commitment to people and humanity.

Do internet dating sites work? - well that depends entirely on what you think their purpose is.

To build a community of people who feel lonely? - yes it does this
To meet the love of your life? - it is possible, but I would not pay (or pay much) to find out
To reduce suicides and murder in communities? - yes I think it works with the right people online

Who should pay for such a site? - in the UK there is a good case for the NHS.

I mean like, I have been on this site for weeks now, to look for new frens-no one responds!!!! Do I look like a stalker or something on my profile or is it the case with everyone else here...

Angel- thats not always the case-genuine people exist in every walk of life including online. but the question that crops up is--how long wud they stay online, when there are a million profiles online, but no respondents!!!! food for thought
