lol this thread is getting way too intellectual for me intelligence is likeable but not a necessaty, arrogance on the other hand is horrible i hate it lol anyone who thinks they are better than others deserves to be on their own, must say though i haven't met many arrogant people

I think the point is good attributes can be mis read as arrogance, it's how you use the talents you have. Personally i'm a whiz with computers and it's the fact that I learned how to operate a new system in 2 hours that made my colleagues complain that I was arrogant. The same people who came running to me when they had problems, go figure LOL |
Confidence can often be mistaken for arrogance too. Personally i like someone who is confident, just as long as they're not cocky with it.

I suffer from this, Im a confident person but it can be mistaken for arrogance and cockyness so to me its all about finding the right balance without upsetting anyone. I will play my confidence down at times.

Wow, didnt expect my original post to get this long. Alot of interesting points indeed.
I think, with the original post I was making I tend to write in proper gramma and spelling. The main reason I made this thread in the first place is because I got snubbed just because I am reading a certain book. I probably should have worded the original post a little better though.

i think there can be a fine line between loving and being happy with yourself and people thinking you are arrogant, i'm confident most of the time but then i can be a complete hermit too
an now on topic lol i prefer intelligence in the form of quick witted and sharp rather than people who are clever in a rocket science way, big words throw me maybe i should go swallow a dictionary so i can understand people more

You sounded pretty crappy too which never helps. Its difficult to put across what you're trying to say when you feel like shite.
What was the book?

I can see how that might have thrown some women and put them off.

What Morillo said. |
What some see clearly as confidence is often mistaken as cockiness by those that are less confident and/or envious of that persons confidence. Cockiness often comes about because that person is not as confident as he/she makes out, likely suffers low esteem and feels the need to over play his/her ability.
True confidence is generally played down because the confident person has no need to shout about it.

Actually Ant, you've said a lot of sensible things today. Are you well? Don't you think you ought to go lie down til it passes? I think perhaps medical help might be required here. I'm very worried for your wellbeing Ant.
