Just trying to put a bit of fun (and, perhaps, perspective) into a subject thats gotten a wee bitty over-serious.

At the end of the day love and intellect are two totally different ends of the spectrum so the whole thing shouldnt be a factor in my opinion. And if someone has had the problem of intimidating potential partners or dates with their intelligence then they should be smart enough to figure out that either:

A/ They are dating the wrong type of people.

or

B/ they are maybe pushing that whole aspect of their personality a little too heavily. After all, IQ isnt personality.

In saying that..161 is damn high..Id be intimidated!

Rolling Eyes

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest and if i got told more than once by the same person I'd assume they were showing off and drop 'em!!

Not really sure what you are getting at in anycase...My original post was simply my chosen, light hearted, response to a thread...which is why threads are started, to get peoples responses...wether they are the desired response or not!

And no serious isnt a bad thing...but is joking so terrible either?

As far as I can tell I wasnt offensive to anyone other than having a dig at my own lack of dates and intelligence...so I really fail to see why you have decided to jump on my case?

Anyhoo...Im not here to pick fights...so if thats what youre after Id suggest you pick someone else.

She made an intellectual joke about something I said and I tore the rug from under her feet with a rapid, critical dissection of her argument.

You should have seen her eyes light up.

With the right person, at the right time, I can see how an itellectual conversation could be stimulating. Unfortunately, tho' relatively bright and brimming with common sense, the only time you'll catch me attempting to join in an intellectual conversation is with a bunch of science students at my own level. Then my eyes light up Very Happy

The forums definitely restrict the level of conversation as we're all so different. Even on msn it can be restrictive. The parry of debate is lost amidst the wait for the next sentence and no good debate can be seriously carried out without waving of arms, animated faces and a sparkle in eyes opened wide in the thrill of intellectual discorse Wink

ok, to summarise this topic, some women are turned off by a show of intelligence as it comes across as arrogance. The way to be is just yourself, dont put the effort in to analysing things too much, nor into over explaining things. Short sweet and direct answers are all that is needed.
Hope that helps sort this thread out, cos it looks like it is startin to become a bitchin thread.

Seems fine to me Tiny. Can't see what the problem is

sorry you want this thread to end, and that you see it as being bitchy, but i think this is an interesting thread myself..
and no point in summarising it as its not finished yet..lots of viewpoints can be made yet..and usually they will die of natural causes anyhow, when people get fed up with it..
