What do people mean when they say on profiles 'looking for short term relationship and long term relationship..'

How short is short term?..week, month, year etc..
When does it start being a long term relationship?..
or is this like a get out clause, whereby after their definition of short term, they turn around and say, 'well this was nice but i did say short term..'? and move onto another person..

like i said, was just wondering..

i think of short term as being 6 months or under, and long term is over a year. if ur with soem1 for between 6 months and a year then tits middle term, thats my view anyway!! what other ppl think?

i dont understand the concept of short term does this mean they don`t really want a relationship just wanna move on to pasture new after a month or so????

it makes sense to me, i dont think ppl plan to have short term relationships (hope not anyway!), but u cant tell with some ppl, to amny ppl r crazy....

If nobody plans to have short term relationships, why have the option available to state thats what you after?
Maybe it should just be 'looking for a relationship' option..forget the short, middle or long..

maybe, although maybe ppl like 2 have the option of not wanteing a long term relationship, im in a position now where i want a relationship, but not a massive serious one, think the short term option is for someone like me who wants something, but isnt looking for marriage/anythign near that. does it make me a bad person wanting a short term fling type thing? when i enter a relationship i dont go into thinking this will last __ months, but i do go into it thinking this could go a long way, ot this wont go anywhere, but i make those judements based on first impressions of the person i enter into it with.

I do understand what you are saying..yes. And of course it doesnt make you a bad person not wanting marriage or anything, just really wanted some views on the subject really, as most profiles i have seen have both options listed, and wondered why and the reasons behind it..and some idea of peoples ideas of time..

cheers, u 2!! i have both listed, although have longh term relationship listed coz u never know if the enxt person u speak 2 is the person u spend the rest of ur life with, and i never want 2 rule out that posibility.

that si correct but then none of us can tell what the future holds for any of us. i would like to think that when you meet some one a relationship develops over time and the more and more you know someone the better your understanding is its foolish to think oh i will see someone for a couple of moths then to realise they are your soulmate what do you do then just leave i think not life is a journey you learn it when your thought as the saying goes rant over
