It would be strange going through the motions. There's a degree of affection for some people, or a mutual agreement of at least desire, that kinda brings a sense of collusion to the thing, but if someone was there only because you paid them..... i dunno, my ego (not to mention my performance) would suffer because id constantly worry that they couldn't wait to be out of there.

I did for our company Christmas Do, my invite was for me plus partner and all the management team were taking partners and I was under pressure to do the same so I hired a lady friend for the evening.

It was great I got lucky I think as she fitted in straight away and the boss was happy as he feels his management team need to be in stable relationships. So much so that every doo we have I have to hire again......Bummer hey!
