The picture of the guy which appears when you click on the link FAT, isn't just fat, he's obese. Being that overweight is harmful to your health and you should try and lose some weight or you'll increase the risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and ultimately you'll die younger. But at the end of the day, it's still an individual's choice...like smoking, as long as you're not harming anyone else then you can do what you like.

I do find there's a slight hypocrisy which exists though, in that plenty of people are more than happy to say this girl's too skinny but are then outraged when you say someone is too fat...can't really see much of a difference myself. If you don't find someone attractive then just don't make amorous approaches towards them, I'm sure someone else will like them.

Agreed. If people are happy being overweight then who cares but if you aren't happy then do something about it. Because at the end of the day you and only you control what goes in your mouth and how much time you spend sitting on your ass.

Ouch!! Not all weight issues are down to what you do/don't eat and whether or not you do/don't excercise. For example, my eldest daughter has an OVERactive thyroid and initially she put on weight (tho' not a great deal) cos she was so hungry all the time and kept eating.

When i first developed asthma I initially put on some weight because i got so wheezy with the slightest thing til i learnt to control it and am only just starting to lose the resulting weight gain.

Unfortunately it's a mad cycle. Once you start to put weight on, you slow down therefore your metabolism starts to slow down so you put on more weight... etc (and for those nerds out there, I realise it's more complex than that, but this saves me having to either think too much or use google!!!)

Losing a bit of weight may seem simple if it's never been much of a problem, but it's so much more complex than just deciding to lose some weight for some.

Agreed Red... My weight issues were not because i over ate!!! It was all down to my mental and emotional well being at the time... and sadly got very out of control until i found the strength to do something about it!

I enjoy shocking trainers at the gym when my BMI is less than theirs, even though it looks like it shouldn't be. I go to the gym daily now thanks to having some extra cash - and I know most of the trainers there had bets that I wouldn't stick to it, but I used to be a bodybuilder, I know what my body is capable of even in its weakened fibromyalgia state. The hardest part is eating; I gained this weight because I never eat - no breakfast, ever, rarely lunch, I usually get dinner but it's not a given. Yesterday around 4:30 pm I realised I'd eaten nothing but a handful of cashews, and I had to force myself to eat a salad for tea.

However, I've got a date for Saturday, so can you see me worried about what size people think I need to be? Nope!

Do what you gotta do, and let everyone keep their preconcieved notions of why you look the way you do if they want. You're the only one who knows the truth, and in the words of Dr Suess; "those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Heh, thank you, it's a rather amusing situation as it was someone I really wanted to date earlier this spring but things fell through and it turns out he's been looking for me ever since.

I liked my other post too, but I decided being confrontational probably wasn't going to be a very wise idea as it's a touchy subject in the main.

I accept that but the vast majority of people who are overweight are so because of the wrong diet and lack of excercise.

ROFL, i'll put my spade down now ladies.

Safe to say i dont care how someone looks, i have fat and thin friends and whats more important to me is their happiness, if they are cool with it then its all good, if they aren't (like one of my mates is atm) then i offer advice where i can, subsequently imma be his training partner, he has no motivation and a job he wants requires fitness.

So yeah, i dont normally do this but i apologise for any riled feathers Wink

i duno.... i reckon men are better off keeping shtum when it comes to women discussion their weight issues lmao

Does the same apply to discussing penis size as in the other thread? Is it okay to say 'I prefer really thin, toned women who look great in and out of clothes'? Is it any worse than saying 'I prefer an eight inch one shaped like a cone'? One scenario is on show all the time..the other you can't even see until it's unleashed. The latter is specific literally to the nearest inch let alone the nearest dress size. Too fat..too small..too big..too thin

Note: Don't think I'm being sensative..I don't have a problem in that area. (said in the voice of David Brent)
