Even though i have lost over 13 stone... yes i did say 13 STONE!!! i still see myself as fat....Even now i am down to a size 14 from a huge Marque size of 32.... Some will say i am still fat and others will say i am not!
I just look in the mirror and see Fat ... i do not want to be stick like.... but i guess being only 5"3 i still look over weight. To me i am still fairly sensative about issues surrounding my weight and i still have hangs ups about my wobbly bits!!!

If we must be specific then heres my stab in the dark

Under size 8 too thin
size 8 - size 14 slim/average
size 16 - 20 over weight
size 20 and over - fat

That's how I see it anyways.

Like I said, im 5'10", not a great height, but I used to be 16stone, I was "technically" obese, but I didn't have a lot of "fat" to show for this label. I'm guessing women can be the same.

When me and my friends were young and stupid we deliberatly had a contest to see if we could get to twenty stone. We failed. Then years later I went to America for three months and got to it without trying. I had fun though..so much ice cream and pizza. I lost it all again in three months. I know that's not good for you..but anyway.

The picture of the guy which appears when you click on the link FAT, isn't just fat, he's obese. Being that overweight is harmful to your health and you should try and lose some weight or you'll increase the risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and ultimately you'll die younger. But at the end of the day, it's still an individual's choice...like smoking, as long as you're not harming anyone else then you can do what you like.

I do find there's a slight hypocrisy which exists though, in that plenty of people are more than happy to say this girl's too skinny but are then outraged when you say someone is too fat...can't really see much of a difference myself. If you don't find someone attractive then just don't make amorous approaches towards them, I'm sure someone else will like them.

Agreed. If people are happy being overweight then who cares but if you aren't happy then do something about it. Because at the end of the day you and only you control what goes in your mouth and how much time you spend sitting on your ass.

Ouch!! Not all weight issues are down to what you do/don't eat and whether or not you do/don't excercise. For example, my eldest daughter has an OVERactive thyroid and initially she put on weight (tho' not a great deal) cos she was so hungry all the time and kept eating.

When i first developed asthma I initially put on some weight because i got so wheezy with the slightest thing til i learnt to control it and am only just starting to lose the resulting weight gain.

Unfortunately it's a mad cycle. Once you start to put weight on, you slow down therefore your metabolism starts to slow down so you put on more weight... etc (and for those nerds out there, I realise it's more complex than that, but this saves me having to either think too much or use google!!!)

Losing a bit of weight may seem simple if it's never been much of a problem, but it's so much more complex than just deciding to lose some weight for some.

yes im brave, but as blunt as it may be i think its pretty accurate, truth hurts i know and im sorry, but i also clearly explained that fitting into that "pidgeon hole" isnt universal as i explained in another post a body builder would be morbidly, just coz your in a certain dress size doesn't mean you are fat/overweight, and so what if you are? being overweight means nothing, unless you are massively overweight.

at the end of the day sensitivity has nothing to do with it, we are discussing weight and its issues, if you dont want to see other peoples thoughts and views etc, then may be best to not read the thread mi'dears Wink

sorry, never noticed the "women only" sign on this thread Very Happy

and ofc its fine for women to have their views on men, but not the other way round, hmm, now that's shocked me PMSL

i think it shouldnt go on size at all, i can be all sizes i got down from a size 18 after having a baby back to a 10 but some shops sell size 12 or 14 and they are as small as a size 10 in another shop lolz and i have to go 14 on tops, i think it's all down to your bmi personally as it shows how much extra weight you have in comparison to size . but weight issues it doesnt bother me lol i have a tum i dont care Very Happy i'm me lolz
