I merely questioned the wisdom of living a fantasy...

Is it just a case of forbidden fruit being twice as sweet ?

There are many reasons people are unfaithful and not all are because someone merely fancies something different or a quick legover, but generally, if it can be avoided, then it should be.

ok, here's a scenario that happened to someone I knew. Husband and wife, he beats her regularly. She seeks out her friend who happens to be a guy to cry on. She stays in the marriage out of fear so there is little the male friend can do. The wife and the friend build up a strong bond til eventually the comfort she finds with her friend becomes a little more. They try not to give in cos she is married and believes in her vows.

After one particularly nasty beating she manages to get away and runs straight to her friend. She is a mess. All he can do is hold her whilst she sobs. The comforting kiss on her head becomes more, til they end up in bed together.

To cut it short, she finally finds the courage to leave her husband because of the feelings that have grown between them.

The wife and friend don't stay together, but that brief time together gave her the courage to leave and realise that she wasn't the worthless sub-human her husband had had her believing herself to be. The friend helped her build her confidence and make a new life for herself.

Would you still say that an affair was wrong no matter what?

I'd consider this as an exception.

Thank you Laura. It's the exceptions that often stick in the mind tho and make you (as in one) realise that not everything is black and white. Sad
