Hello, everyone!
I've been on flirtbox for a while now, but only just recently discovered these boards and have spent a bit of time looking around them. Looks like there are some nice people here so thought I'd post and introduce myself.
I'm going to be a grad student in Derry, Northern Ireland starting in September (right now I live in the States) so I'd love to find someone in Northern Ireland as a friend (or hopefully more, but things have to start as friendships, in my opinion.)
I'm shy, but I find this is a good place to get over shyness. I'm also a bit of an academic-type nerd.
I've felt a bit weird on here for a while, because I'm really not interested in dating people around where I currently live (the midwest of the US) because I'm not going to be living here in the very near future, and obviously I want to be with someone who is going to be near to me. Is that strange? Has anyone else done this? I don't have a lot of faith in long-distance relationships, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I'm afraid some people think it is, though...
Anyway, hi!

Hello Hodel78 and welcome to the boards!
I'm from the midwest too- born in Ohio and go to school in Chicago. You're lucky to be going to Ireland for grad school, I'm jealous

I'm very excited about it! Scared, too, though. And I'm also going to basically have a mortgage worth of Student loans by the time I graduate!
Oh yeah, and I'm from Indiana - so kind of in the middle of Chicago and Ohio!

I would be so excited too and same here about the student loans... and I'm only half way done through undergrad!!!
Indiana- I've drove through there lots to get to Chicago, but haven't spent much time in the state. I have been to Shipshewana though- gotta love the Amish- and my best friend is from South Bend. I like teasing her and call her The Hoosier, lol!

Is your post title a reference to Christian Slater's cheesy (but rather cool) introduction line in the movie Heathers?
Just wondered cause I think it's an amusing line!
