11.06.2007, 15:06 quote
Which do you find more nerving? Personally mines the first date, just incase you don't have that much in common as you first thought and end up sitting there like a plum until the night is over.
11.06.2007, 15:54 quote
First date. Although a double date if it's his mates who I don't know, then end up "sitting there like a plum" not knowing what to say as well!
12.06.2007, 06:25 quote
Both for their own reasons!
First date date of the general thoughts 'will he like me' 'will he be boring' etc...'what if we have nothing in common'
double date......supposing the other person pisses you off and you end up being rude - looking like a total bitch to your date!
12.06.2007, 08:57 quote
Double date..
I once went on a double date with a friend of mine she was running late and all the plans went to crap and the whole night was a white wash..
we ended up watching star wars episode 1 in the cinema thats how bad the night was.
First dates I dont have a problem with as there is obviously something there for me to find the person attractive and that means I can still talk to them and enjoy a good night out with a friend even if nothing happens..
12.06.2007, 22:56 quote
Never been on a double date. Is it a common occurence?
To avoid getting nervous on a first date, I find the trick is to arrange a first date with someone else a few days later. That way, you can be more relaxed, indifferent and not have any expectations about the date, and therefore be more laid-back and have more fun.
That's probably the evil answer, that will make me a hate figure!
13.06.2007, 09:03 quote
Hate FIGURE!!!!
No but really, if i ever have one date i can't arrange another date soon because what if you get on very very well on the date in question? it would be a tad harsh just to say to your next date "sorry i have to cancel, i have found someone better" bit wrong, no matter what the excuse is.
I have only been on one double date, and for me it was very good, because it was the girl's friend we were double dating with i also knew her, and i also knew the other person from school, so all was good.
Can't remember the last time i had either date though haha.
13.06.2007, 23:25 quote
Even if the previous date went well, why would I cancel the next date?
It's not like I would expect a first date to lead to a relationship, or even love.
I have been on a kind of double date. Well sort of. I was the only guy and met these two girls blind in the same place. That was just plain strange! I really liked one girl more than the other, so every time the bonkers one went to get a drink, me and the other would be having a good laff!
At the end of the day, I expect to meet potential friends out of dating, and I tend to meet up with blokes as well as women. I'm not talking about meeting blokes in a bisexual way, but in a chat to fellas down the pub kind of way! If I get anything more than a potential friend out of meeting a stranger, than cool!
If I did start proper going out with someone, and there is a big difference between dating someone and going out with someone, I wouldn't be meeting up with strangers to go on dates!
I never take advice from people with miniature cats jumping out of their ears.
I might have some advice for you though!

I've never met anyone through this site. I only use it for the forums. I meet most of the people I meet through gumtree.com
People there seem to be in plentiful supply and are eager to meet and socialise with other like-minds. Get yourself a date, dude!

Ok, you attempted sarcasm with that last post and it failed miserably.
I said what happens if the date DID go that well, not saying it actually would.
Is your ego actually that big that you can't see what is in front of you?

guys, for PasleptSiekare's pleasure, get your tops off right now and get out there in the rain - and your wepons are half-eaten soggy kebab. You do however have a choice.

back to the topic, I've only ever been on one double date and that was just bizzar!
I don't go on dates just because I can, I wait untill I'm sure we will at least get on and have a laugh, and I treat a date as just meeting a friend (I know I've said this before, I just hope not in this thread
) I may not seem so but I can sometimes be nervous around people I don't know especially someone I'm attracted to, so the friend thing is a self-defence mechanism, one it means if we don't click then there is less dissapointment, 2 my ploy has guaranteed that over the three years on and off that I've been doing this, I have never had to endure the dreadded embarrassed silence, we've at least always had a laugh...

Wow, no one ever told me I had a big ego before! My boss told me that I should sell myself more. All those self-help books I've been reading have finally paid off. I don't (think I) have a big ego. I've nothing to boast about. I mean blimey, I haven't had love or even snogged anyone for over two years! Nothing to be big-headed about. I'm not boasting by saying I've been on loads of dates recently. Getting dates is easy. Connecting with people, now that's the tough bit!
Didn't mean to get your goat Eddie!
BTW, which was the sarcastic bit? My guess is it failed at sarcasm, because there wasn't any!
Like I say, if a date did go well, that wouldn't stop me from making new friends. You can never have enough friends.
